I'm trying to decide between the b5 and b7 rs4 reps myself. Such a tough decision. You can get the b5's for cheaper. They both luck super good. I dunno, i just dont know.

I had the b5 RS4 reps in 18s. They are super strong tooo. I hit a few unexpected potholes which i though i would have destroyed my rim. Not even a ding!!! a little black rubbed off from the tire that was it. The third one i had to get the tire replaced since it screwed the steel belts and left me with a bubble. Now im rocking 18in RS6s and im loving them too!

out of the choice of HP evos and RS4's, i would stick with the RS4's. they are much stronger, look cleaner, and MUCH easier to clean. being the clean freak i am, i love my RS4's cause it takes me no time to wash them.

i would use that paycheck toward suspension. cause 18's on your car will look crazy monster truck like. suspension is a much better starting off mod.. i wish i would have done that before my 18's and im running on the sport suspension with only about 2 inches of wheelwell gap..

just a thought

yeah sean thats totally got me thinking now. im a totaly noob, so i dunno what i should get it i go that route. dont wanna go too low. the bay area is really hilly, crappy freeways, can scrape the bottom almost anywhere. baydestrians agree? o yeah, i totally feel like an ass Audisport0808 for stealing the thread. sorry man, flame me. its aiite.

I dunno though, the outer tire diameter would be roughly the same on my stock set up and with 18s.

I love the way the spokes on the b5's are kind of angled outwards from the centre, if you know what I mean.

I'm going b5 rs4 because there cheaper, and easier to clean/wax

I have 225/40/18 on mine you might be able to squeeze a 235...

bellofello

Velocity Motoring has an 18x8.5 rim with a 38 offset. You can fit a 245 on there.

I'm probably going to go with a 225/40/18 Falken Azenis RT-615

damn, me, monchichi, and 20A4Audi1.8t01 all have the exact same setup going right now. that would be sick if there was a way for us 3 to get together for a photoshoot [drive]

Hey kyle, your running 225's right. I can't remember what you said. Is that on a 8" wide rim or 8.5"? Those pics you had of your rims that you posted in the other thread are helpful. They show the stretch nice.

To answer a few unanswered questions. There are 2 "styles" of B5 RS4 reps, much like the B7 RS4 reps as well.

There are these B5 with skinny spokes.
http://www.lakeshorewheelandtire.com/wheels/audi-131.JPG

and these B5 (I like the 2nd ones better, the spokes a little more meaty!)
http://www.wheelsandcaps.com/ebay/images/wheels/audi/rs4_front.jpg

Anyways, I'm selling my B5 RS4's (like in the 2nd pic) in the classifieds if anyone was wondering.

yeah they are 225's. rim is 18x8.5 they actually didnt stretch much. the tire wall is pretty close to being perfectly vertical. i doubt you would want to go smaller than a 225 for that strecthier look. you would have no meat on your shoes.

IKE20VA4
11-12-2006, 06:13 PM
yeah, i would do a 235 if you could without rubbing so you get a little rim protection..

oh yeah audisport 12. I would never go skinier than that for tractiong/footprint issues as well.

I just thought you said you had an 8" wide rim for a second. I love the way your tires fit, and thought I was going with a wider rim than you.

Turns out you do have the 8.5, so I'm all good. Plus the roads are decent up here.

got another question. will 18 inch rims in general screw with the speedometer?

No, I didnt notice anything... anyone else notice?

Why would wheel size affect the speedometer? You do know that tires are available in a wide assortment of sizes and aspect ratios, right? Regardless of wheel size, the tire's rolling circumference should always be the same.

bellofello
11-13-2006, 07:34 AM
yeah my non sports with 215/55/16 have a larger overal diameter than 225/40/18 do. So it shouldn't have any effect. Unless you put 18's with 30 inch truck tires or something haha

quadaxel
11-13-2006, 10:25 AM
hahaha. yeah i dunno. i just heard that it will screw with the speedometer. didnt think it would make a difference but just checking on account of my noob-ness. thanks guys.
