View Full Version : Chance to buy a C/F hood cheap.

Well I went to a local shop to get my windows tinted and in the corner they had a C/F hood sitting there. It looked strangely familiar so I looked at it and it turns out its for a B5 A4/S4. I couldn't believe it. The guy at the shop said it was made by Eribuni(sp?) and some kid had ordered it, put a deposit on it then never came back to get it. The hood looks decent with the exception that its not double sided C/F and it has holes for windshield washer nozzles which I don't have on my '01. I'm not too keen on having those on my hood.

He said if I came back to get it this weekend he'd give the hood to me for $350. I know that is insanely cheap but I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to put on a hood with washer nozzles.

What would you guys do given the chance?

Go buy it and turn around and sell it. Someone out there will pay more than that for it - you might as well make a profit!

I would fill in the holes and paint the center section to match my car.

that could be a good alternative too. different than the usual paint scheme but different can sometimes be good.

just fill in the holes and paint the whole thing.. -sleeper cf-

but i would only do it if the hood weighs less than 25lbs

for 350 I'd find a connect and get a VIS hood. So if that guy already put a down it should be significantly cheaper. Especially since it's a no name brand. But it's up to you. Check out the weaves to see there's any blems. It's hard to find a perfect hood. And try to get some kind of warrenty.

Erebuni is a brand name. It was one of the first bigtime bodykit manufacturers in the japanese import market. That said $350 is too much especially since it isn't the right hood.

Odd thing is that Erebuni doesn't make hoods or CF products.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm still on the fence after all your responses.

I like the idea of painting the center but that might be too busy for the car.

Hmmm....decisions, decisions.

I don't mind that "racing" type hood at all. Kinda different. Also some of the mirrors look good.

They all look to be copies of other CF hoods made in the past for the B5.

Mike, I just haven't seen many hoods with a similar vent in the centre. Most I've seen are OEM style, like yours, the one with the twin side intake vents. Oh and the DTM style one.

The very first CF hood ever made for the A4 was by vortrag, it came OEM or with a reverse vent in the center. Here is a picture of it on Jasons car which was one of the guys from Turbo 5, taken pre 2000.

I wasn't around with my car for that. I just meant from what research I've done recently. There was no doubt that it has been done before.

Tell the shop you don't want to spend $350 on the wrong hood. Offer them $350 for the holes to be filled, center painted, and installed on your car.

I second that...I'll bet they'll take $200-250
