just wanted to say hello after Sunday's cleaning. thanks to everyone for your help on getting the filler panel, and special thanks to defunkt for the excellent VAG-com write up!!
really enjoying the new car. it's my first manual so i'm still getting used to it and learning to get more aggressive [drive] it's a great car for that and very fun (and forgiving LOL).
here are some pics - my photography could use some work, sorry! [a4]

Are the ridges on your ESP/Airbag buttons painted to match the silver trim? I've never noticed that if so. Maybe it's the lighting?

yes, those ridges match the trim. i am not sure if they are aluminum or chrome, but they look like a matte aluminum, similar to the strips on the ashtray cover. [up]

LOL, i couldn't agree more. i find myself getting very OCD about keeping it clean. i have been washing it once a week myself and then i even go so far as to not drive it on rainy days (and drive my silver SUV instead), which thankfully is not very often in San Diego [;)]
i am glad i got the black instead of dolphin (which was my initial first choice). not only did it save me some $, but it looks so slick all the time [up]
