View Full Version : APR Exhaust -- Concerns --

Being new to the Audi world (but not new to the tunning world) im already itching to slap on a nice sounding exhaust system to my new B7 A4. My only concern is the sound that the APR makes. I've never heard one live, but I've seen some videos. For those of you who have one, how would you rate your exhaust tones? The last thing that I want is being mistaken for a little ricer wanna be. I much rather have a stock exhaust than something that sounds like a honda civic.
Im trying to go for the "quiet at normal RPM's - & throaty when redline"....thoughts/comments/concerns are appreciated!

I think APR should be what you're looking for...but milltek maybe another great option. I have a milltek fullback on my B6 and at idle its slightly louder than stock but when you hit it, it has a great sound.

After driving around Houston with Zerin last night, APR's exhaust is definitely quiet even with the test pipe.

APR and Milltek both have quiet tones when idling and normal driving. WOT they don't sound obnoxious, but they don't sound stock either, you know it's tuned up.

Our single Tip exhaust system is also quieter then our quad system.

i definitely like the sound of my exhaust a lot more, great aggressive tone inside and outside of the car. we are both going to dyno this saturday so we will see if any of us are doing better than the other.

i have the APR with the test pipe and its not that loud but i think it suits my needs and the car as well!!
My APR exhaust was very quiet, but was sill noticable. I have a few soud clips, just serch for them.

I'll vouch for Neuspeed.... I love it. Its exactly what I was looking for in an exhaust... its not too loud but you can definitely tell that the car has aftermarket exhaust. No droning at all at highway speeds. I'll have a test pipe on within the next couple weeks. I believe AWE was also pretty loud - some reported that its a bit louder than Neuspeed.

I bought his APR from him, its def. quite nothing hondish about it, I have the creative test pipe and it def sounds louder now but still really quite for a car without a cat...honestly after hearing the Creative exhaust on John's car i think apr-test pipe is as loud as the creative one..but the looks of the creative exhaust crushes everything else out there right now

I'm VERY happy with mine. Its really stealthy, but adds a nice bit of low end rumble to the sound. Matt's sounds great but I like the quiet smooth and deep sound of my APR too.

yeah, I love my APR exhaust. The e-code testpipe adds some growl to it too. however, like everyone has mentioned, it is a "stealth" exhaust. but that's how i like it. no no no, let me correct myself, that's how i love it!

GMG just installed my APR exhaust for my B7-A4. I had the carbonio intake done at the same time, so not sure if the exhaust would sound any different if the intake was stock. The APR exhaust is very quite and sounds great. The quality is amazing...It's a perfect stealth exhaust and much better then stock.

I had the Neuspeed exhaust for about 2 weeks and then took it off. The low-end drone was too much for me, but A LOT of people liked it. The guys at the shop were all slack-jawed when I said I was removing it...and I still get ribbed about it to this day.
I just fear Tokyo Drift Syndrome like the plague.
Based on web feedback, I've ordered the APR exhaust, but it'll probably be another week or two before I can tell you what the definitive difference is.

Sorry, don't mean to thread jack, but since we're on the topic of exhausts. Has anyone done a custom single exit exhaust system? (just having custom piping made with the muffler of choice) I was just wondering because obviously you want the least amount of flow restriction. Do you guys think that would be stupid to do or do you think you would see better performance gains from it?
