View Full Version : Laser Detectors/Diffusers - Anyone a believer?

Aloha All,

Does anybody have any luck/experience/edvidence that the various laser detectors and diffusers for sale out there actually protect us against speed traps?

I'm not a chronic speeder - but it's difficult not to get out of sorts every once in a while with the S4 and I'm wondering what I can do to protect myself from a pesky ticket.

My insurance agency certainly doesn't need ANY more reasons to raise my premiums. lol

try investing in a lidatek. i have a bunch of friends with it, and i've heard nothing but good things about it. i was gonna get one for my old car, but ended up selling it. if i do get another 5/6spd car, this will be the first thing i get. good luck though. let us know if you find anything worthwhile

The Lidatek is awesome! My boyfriend installed it for me. It was very involved, but he is also VERY meticulous. It saved me a number of times! Had two transponders on the front, well hidden. Cops do get suspicious though, when they're lasering. They look stunned when they get error code when car zooms by! HUGE asset though, but nothing beats driving safely!

Hmmm looks like something i'd get.

My foot gets stuck on the accelerator pedal a lot. [:)]

Thanks for the personal testimonial Jennifer. Can I ask where you guys got the units from?

out of all the money i spend on mods, this should've been the first. by the time i get around buying one, i'd be too late[knock on wood]. i usually memorize their favorite hidding spots. plus i always keep an eye out for the drivers in the front, i'll jam on the brake if i see a bunch of brake lights go on, sorta an indication someone is tagging ahead.

i've heard good stuff about lidateck, and also valentine one, but never tried them myself. there's a lot of discussion here on az, here's a search on lidatek: LINK (http://www.audizine.com/forum/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=674227&sortby=lastpost&sortorder=descending)

Thanks! I'll look into it. Maybe we can start a group buy. ;)

Know anyone that does good installs?

Purchased directly from APR two years ago.
You can also order direct from Lidatek. I even saw some on Ebay!
If you do place a group order, maybe it'd be cheaper! I do need to buy a nother system so let me know! THanks!

Security & Sound just e-mail quoted me (of course they'll have to look at my car in person to verify pricing) $475 for a Lidatek LE-30 installed professionally... Just FYI.

That is installation fee alone? Yikes!

try looking on www.audiworld.com for the write up on the lidatek install. I don't know if they do have write up for your car, but try and check. I think, it could save you money on installation alone.

No, that was the LE-30 + Installation for $475...

installation is very very involved! Took a lotta hours!!!!

10-24-2006, 12:08 AM
Roger that, I guess $475 isn't so bad then. ;)

I think $475 installed is great. Wonder how much for dual transponders though? :)

The Laser portion of the system -- transponders mounted on front plate are designed to be "difusers" not jammers which are illegal - this means that I have roughly 3-4 seconds after the alarm goes off to get "under the speed limit" -- for Oahu, this should be way more than enough time -- in all honesty, if you are going fast enough NOT to be able to slow down in four seconds you DESERVE the ticket [:D]

my install also has radar as well which is useless here on Oahu as the PD only use laser now I believe...good luck!
