I've recently fitted an Alpine ILX-507A headunit into my 2010 8P S3 with Bose and have the dreaded alternator whine due to grounding issues somewhere along the chain. The electrical whine is worse when connecting any devices via USB.
I used adaptor harnesses specifically designed for the original quad lock harness to the ISO adaptor for the Alpine unit.
The issue is definitely from the RCA outputs from the harness. After some research online, seems like this is a common issue and there is no real work around for it. I tried some ground loop isolators, but they made no difference.
This is very frustrating. Is my only option to bin the Bose amp/speakers and go fully aftermarket and ensure that the external amp is properly grounded?
