I have the stage 2 (+?) IE calibration now and I want to do a supplemental air supply from fog grille to filter as I’ve seen some people do.
This one thread is exclusively for the B7’s I believe.

While I’m there, given I have test pipes of course like most, it seems advantageous in many ways to delete the sai system not only for extra space but also future serviceability on with timing and such. Just a few questions.
Are the sai rear blockoff plates necessary?
Has anyone done this with the IE tune?
Should the fuse for it be removed, and all the wiring removed?
This is what my intake setup is looking like now after some weekend autism took over

Very clean engine bay man .
Did you remove the heat retardant layer that goes underneath the hood? I thought it would result in damaging the paint (on surface of hood)….
I’ve been interested in the SAI delete plates due to their low cost as a preventative feature. Have also read that deleting the air pump plus 2 other pieces behind supercharger free up room to possibly do timing chain covers with engine in. ( when combined with test pipes )
After reaching out to 034 about compatibility with their tunes I decided not to proceed. Based on an email it seems to be ‘unsupported’. Based on the same question during their live stream they say it’ll likely cause a DTC and that the SAI system should remain installed. Apparently the test pipe file disables the SAI cold start function, but still required the hardware be in place for some reason. They acknowledge it’ll likely result in a DTC.
I’m not sure if their response is colored by the fact that the SAI delete plates are affiliated with Jackal.

I went ahead and deleted my sai pump and capped the vacuum hose to the combi. This was against IE direction, they said that it would cause a cel, emissions regulations etc
Happy to report that I have no cel or even soft codes and the monitors surprisingly disabled themselves. Cold starts tested multiple times thus far.
Next step for me is to delete the combis and install plates but thats a pretty big job for another day.
Initial data from supplemental air supply exhibits a minor improvement in high rpm stability, possibly placebo but I no longer have ign. Corr past 6450 that I always had on IE E40 prior to this. Ignition adv has also improved half a degree.
Will do some more logging of course and revise as needed, possibly 4 inch larger inlet ducting into 3 inch hose piping in efforts to create a venturi.

Interesting data. If IE also seems to be cagey about SAI delete, then maybe the reason for neither company positively recommending it is for legal purposes.
Should the EPA come knocking they’ll have many documented cases of telling their customers to keep all their compliance equipment untouched.
Half a degree of ignition advance could be accounted for by change of fuel quality before and after measurements [emoji2369]
