I'm in the marines and just got back from a two year tour
in japan so needless to say Nissans were my thing. The tuning is much
simpler and no where near as complex as my A4 seems to be. Any thoughts
or suggestions on where I should start with modifying this machine would be
greatly appreciated.

giac chip & air filter if you're a 1.8t. it's an almost required #1 to start with. good luck with your a4!

welcome mac' - glad you joined the ranks of the four-rings and are looking to work on it.

I'm sure you'll get a feel for the forums quickly - click around. go 5, 6, 10 pages deep... you'll see a million and one caps-lock yelling like "use the search" orders from the guys who have been here for years.

so, from questions about chips, exhausts, intakes, custom jobs, clear-corners, cf wiper stalks, kangaroo leather steering wheel wraps, and other stuff relating to non-bt issues including acronyms and other newbness...

Use the search, you'll be glad you did...
and so will Evil.

Welcome back to the US. There are a lot of good write-ups here and on audiworld.com. Like the people above said, search any topic and you are bound to get some good answers. I like filtering search results by user, some guys have been on here for ever and have really good posts.

enjoy the ride quality / quietness / warmth / traction and dont' focus on the power (or lack thereof), it'll never compare to the amount of power to be made in a turbo nissan... i'm even considering dropping the idea of chipping mine to provide more reliabilty... 150hp? 200hp? what's the difference lol

you could always build the motor and get a ginormious turbo with a boost threshold that makes you cruise around at 4k+ for any type of response in traffic, but be ready to change all the mounts and know the days are numbered on the factory gearbox if you're making serious power... but, if that's your goal, more power to ya... i'd just pick up a nissan and swap it for considerably less if i were in your shoes

Welcome and when you ask questions around here try to be a little more specific.
There is alot of cookie cutting around here but every one has different goals and aspirations for their cars.

The first thing you want to do before even modifying your car is due all the recommended maintenance because its costly and its best to prevent a problem than to fix it down the road when your stranded.

Also providing as much detail in regards to the MY, engine, and tranny is needed when considering performance mods.

If you get a intake DDQ will hunt you down and run you over with his slick S4 (to bad he has the slowest color... [:p])

Any thing that pops into your head use this first ---> http://audizine.com/forum/images/find.gif you will learn a ton.

Whatd you have in Japan? I wanted a 97-98 Kouki 240sx with the SR20 swap right before I got the Audi, youll be happy with the switch tho... Although Skylines>ALL

The stock turbo is very limited to how much power it can produce. I just picked up an A4 a month or two ago and am in the middle of doing a kit for it. Another month or so and it'll be done, needless to say that the stock turbo was the first thing to be ditched.

13.72 to what? 200mph?

oh shit! did we forget this is an Audi forum.. whoops!

there just needs to be more 1000+whp daily driver S4's

AudiA4_20T
10-21-2006, 06:45 AM
ha yea... Think about how rediculous that is... But also the S4 is very very capable of this except for the way the turbos are... They arent sequential they spool at the same time so its way hard to do big hp kits. But considering the RB26DETT engine (Skyline engine) is a 2.6 liter, its possible [up] give it a few years and theyll be out there... Now that people are tuning them for BTs things are comming...

I remember at WF12 the Autospeed booth had an 1000chp S4

Pics are comings....Next sat. Purems is doing the apr chip, and I've got the carbonio intake and a boost guage going in sometime this week when I find time. I found out yest. purems is only about a two hour drive from me. Being new helps a lot to have someone local. Oh yeah, today I'm putting in a new timing belt kit. Thanx for all the response guys.
