Re: Lightweight pulley installed and Intake spacers..

B6guy42, You're bringing a lot of valuable and interesting information to the table, but I'm having a really hard time reading your posts. Can you please take just a moment before you click 'post' to make sure what you typed is easier to digest?

I'm sorry for sounding like a dick, but I really want to hear what you have to say without hurting my eyes.

I know what a harmonic balancer is, i'm just saying that this car has been out for 5 years and aftermarket parts are just creeping up.. it took some time, is all.

I think "chirp" is a better word - I can get SOME slip from all 4 wheels, but nothing more than a fraction of a second. I think of spinning as being a sustained traction loss.

Ok fine, then it's traction loss, no I am not sittign spinning the rubber off the tires. And to the above poster that asked me to read it before I hit post, understood, I just want to be as informative as possible from my experience.

Talk ot Jay about it, i would imagine. lightweight pulleys are out for ALL types of cars. If not you can have your own made.

you should change the title of this thread to reflect the power gains...you'll have 100 replies in 1 day if you do, and that can only help the project.

it's kind of too discreet as is.

go to the B6/7S4 forum, double click just to the right of your thread title (just beside the word spacers)

???????????????? what did I miss here. The response I was giving was simply that the pulleys are very different then most LW pulleys

I don't know about the poster of the thread. But I can get a good amount of sustained traction loss If I foot brake the car and launch hard. Stock cars will not be able to do this due to what seems to be something in the ECU

Exactly-- chirp is a MUCH better word.

I don't care how fast your s4 is, but you will NOT be doing 4wd burn outs, and that's a fact. Maybe unless you're s/c'd, in which case it would still be VERY hard, and be VERY detrimental on the drive train.

Don't say FACT. That is not a fact that is your opinion. And come on NOW Just cause you can't do it doesn't mean it can't be done. : ) you can do it if you launch hard enough.Click here to enlarge Well I think the fact that your close to stock doesn't help either. It is MUCH different after you toss several of these mods on the car

    http://videos.streetfire.net/video/L...101_168121.htm

I know its B5 content but still

Not saying I can do 4wd burn outs but I can spin the piss out of ALL 4 tires for quite some time. This is not sustainable tho. Chirp is A better word but the correct term for IMO what is happening.

How about briefly breaking the tires loose. To me that's more then a chirp but not a 4wd burn out

LOL LOL Jacob that's the guys name in that skit. How about the dad charictor (Will Ferrell) that talks quiet then starts SCREAMING crazy stuff at his kids to stay off the shed then just starts quietly going back to what he was doing. Only to scream at them again with even more crazy stuff to stay off the shed.

Okay, I think we have consensus. LOL

Perhaps I have power loss, because the only way I can get sustained, throttle-induced tire slip (like other people are reporting with a stock car) is if I floor it and crank the steering wheel over. I get very slight traction loss in the back, and the front wheels are slipping as I get understeer.

Sorry to the grammer police! I will break up my thoughts so that you can read them correctly. I failed English basically.

Back on topic, whatever he charges, and whenever he finishes, you all should buy these pulleys! It entails taking the nose off, and removing the serpentine belt assembly, then the crank pulley (since this is the only driven pulley in the front of the motor..everything else is on the timing chains)

Like I said, can't post dyno results until I actually DO the dyno, but mentioned previously that I wasn't doing it for a couple of weeks. I have something else going in the car now anyway, so the results wouldn't single out the pulley. Already provided you with the formula 2.7CHP freed from each pound dropped from the rotating assembly.

Great feed back. Definitely looks and sounds from you and other people. to be a good investment in power.

No. See I think there is only SO much the stock computer will allow the car to do. You can ask Cabrocco. I talked to him about this in the past. With the stock ECU the car kinda holds it self up. I can really put a spinning to my tires or briefly break them loose ;) to tell you the truth. Also 91gl can spin the rubber quite good.

I think once you get Dp's and a chip you should be able to spin (break them loose) them good. Here is what Im going to do. Im helping a local guy with a clutch install this sat. Ill have him launch his car and see if we can break the tires loose on his car. As my car might not be a great example of what a closer to stock car would be able to do

OMG lol. I did up up down down right left right left B A start. THEN I JUST FLOORED IT. You will hear a conformation sound then unlimited tire spin. lol

but in all honesty. I REALLY think if you have a stock chip that may have something to do with it. I don't remember being able to spin or brake loose the tires before the chip and other performance bits

LOL - that is the same combo as the "super uppercut" in Mortal Kombat for Super Nintendo!!!

But back to reality - so you guys sort of came to the conclusion that there was some sort of torque limiting deal on the stock ECU? That might make sense, as I remember some people were complaining about not having full torque below 3K RPM.

Yeah please dont let him launch it until it is broken in, lol. What setup is he going with?

With the stock ecu i wouldnt get the car to spin except for a few times when it was damp outside. But now i have the JHM tune it will break them loose when i launch at 2300 or so rpm. I cant really take it up higher then that because i dont think my clutch can handle the power. It is stock setup as for now. But i am able to still pull off 1.8 60fts with only letting it go at 1900rpm. I used to let it go at 3k but now i have to be on the safe side. I think there is something in the ecu holding the cars back but i didnt program it so i cant say forsure. Maybe jay will come in here and help clear up somethings.

I heard one of my buddies talking about some sort of valve that Audi places on the drivetrain that when it feels too much power to the clutch that it acts like ABS and pulsates the cluthc on the flywheel to protect the drivetrain from too much shock. I'm still looking it up too see how much truth there is to that, but I haven't found anything yet...

not sure about that, but there is something similar at low speeds. It's called anti-stall. You'll feel it kick in when you're about to stall it sometimes. Like an F1 car...watch this awesome video for a good sample courtesy of Richard Hammond who drives Renault's F1 car at Silverstone Raceway.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in
I came here from Germany in the 6th grade. I could not read or write a lick of English. I am working to get better. Thanks and sorry. I always try to edit my posts for the best grammar and easiest reading.

I'm still looking it up too see how much truth there is to that, but I haven't found anything yet...
BMW's have this in their manual systems, and its called a Clutch Delay Valve.

I removed one of these from my friends 540i, and it was a hell of a difference.

From what I recall, Audi's don't have this.
