    Audi S2

Curious if anyone can tell me about this bad boy. I believe it has the 2.2 I5 Turbo. One of my buddies is moving to the west coast and is looking for a car and i showed him one and he fell in love. Curious about how hard these guys are to find. Any help would be great, Thanks.

They arnt, but I have seen coupe quattros converted to S2's, They are rare here in the states, but popular in England. These bad boys haul ass.

So I guess we are talking about turbo CQs (or eS2s or CQTs or ?) There are a TON of ways to get this done. You could swap in a AAN or 3B without much trouble (things need to be re routed) or you could TC your 7a.

My CQT was making ~8psi and 180whp at sea level (on 034's dyno it is now at 5280' and a bit lower then those #s). It is a blast! In the next few months I'll be working on a bit more power from a S2 IC and E85. Not sure where that will put me but eventually I'll drop the compression and do some other things.

To turbo the 7a engine, don't you need a 10v bottom end to lower the compression ratio? At least in my limited reading this is what I have heard, along with some machining to the head for water passages?

To turbo a 7a engine you need to bolt a turbo to the side and hook it to the intake.

To not blow up a stock 7a with a turbo you need conservative tuning.

So that is a modified 3B; we got them in the 1991 200 20vt. For this level of performance you may as well build a 7a as the parts you replace (rods, pistons) are the main differences btw the 7a and the 3b or AAN. I would check out 034 Motorsport.

034 sells CR dropping head gaskets for 7a turbo projects, I am about to get started with this on mine.

CDHGs are great but you can TC a stock 7a. Nate at 034 was the PO of my CQ. The parts on it were the prototype for their 7a TC "kit".

034 built a 7A to over 800 hp for their latest challenge, the Castrol engine shoot-out thingie.

After reading that I figure it's silly to spend the time/money on a 3B/AAN compared to rebuilding what I have already.

Tactic you have any specs on your build?

And the 034 kit is about 4k with no IC, MBC and just a chipped ECU. Doesn't even have a DP in the kit.

Good deal if you bought it with it. When I inquired that is the figure I was given, I appreciate them coming up with unique parts and understand R&D is spendy, but just is out of my range and seems like a DP and IC setup would be there for the price.

Yeah not coming with a DP seems like a fault.

It is pretty fun WO a IC but my plan is to install a S2 IC sooner then later. Adding a DV was easy. I am running Ic and working on refining the tune but I have not tried the chipped ECU that I have.

If I was looking at going 20VT and had the cash it is the quick way to go. Swapping engines is not quick. With a CDHG and IC you can get great power from the 7a (with a good tune).

Over the summer I will be seeing what can be done at each stage (WO IC, W/ IC, eventually with IC and CDHG).

    Name's Dustin, btw.

It's pretty complicated... rather involved, and technical.

    Specs follow.

    Stock.

For mods, see signature... that's how I bought the car this past fall and am now just starting to sink my teeth into the car.

A build thread will be posted soon, with the basic initial maintainence it needs also included.
