ECS 306mm rear brake upgrade?
I was thinking of doing the ECS tuning 306mm rear brake upgrade. I was wondering if anyone has done it and what the opinions were? In addition any pics? Thanks.

go 034 or go home.. don't mess with the floating ecs rotor crap. You don't need anything bigger than the S8 rotors anyway unless you plan to make it a deticated track car. To answer your question on has anyone done it, a quick search will find a number of people having problems with loose hats and bad ECS service.

Very little grinding is required, yes. However I would rather use an oem rotor that can be bought anywhere for cheap rather than a one-off design that costs $100s and has to be ordered online.

The ECS rotor isn't "crap". And it will take years of hard use to wear out a rear rotor.
I'd bet it's lighter than the S8 rotor too because of the aluminum hat.

Both 034 and ECS rear brake kits have their problems, imho go stasis if you want quality(I have them and love them!)

Sigh....
034 is the way to go you get a 320mm rotor. Even though you cant use the full rotor the larger size of the rotor disperses heat quicker then the stock rotor. If you want to spend money on a rear BBK look on www.rs246.com theirs a write up on getting B6 s4 rear calipers and rotors to work on a b5

To be honest, I can't see anyone having a heat issue with the rear brakes. Our weight distribution just doesn't put much load back there under hard braking.
I've worked the brakes harder than 90% of S4 owners out there, and the rears don't need much help.
However, you might want to upgrade the rears just to keep balance in check as a front BBK can change your brake bias.
Not to mention looks, although that was minor reason for me.
Let me put it this way, I would begin to crack the front rotors (cross-drilled) after just a few 180+ mph hard stops (ECS Stage 4). I went through two cross-drilled front rotor sets and one slotted front rotor set. All trashed.
The rear brakes are cross drilled, don't have a single crack, and haven't even changed the pads yet (they were installed at the same time).

well, how can you change your brake bias by changing your rotors? How can heat affect your rear rotors. Have you ever driven on a track?

Here, I found one I hadn't posted yet. Is this good?

I might have taken the S4 on a track a time or two...
Rotor diameter has a huge effect on brake bias. Increasing the rotor diamter increases the effective lever arm you have on braking force. That's just like how a longer wrench or a cheater bar applies more torque to a nut you're trying to loosen.
If you buy a BBK on the front, you may shift your braking bias forward due to piston diamter changes, rotor braking torque changes, or pad compound changes.
Adding a larger rotor in the rear can help balance this.
ECS has made a spreadsheet explaining it, though I haven't double checked their numbers. Don't hold me to them. I can verify though my car was more balanced after I added the larger rear rotors.
As I said, heat and fade is not an issue on our rear brakes. I've never heard anyone complain about this, and I've never had a problem over 6+ years of running an S4 hard.

WAIT. That's shomegrown?!?!?! OMG. I didn't even know.
Your car is awesome, however I did prefer the RS4 rims. But that's all your choice.

Hahaha, I just remembered that pic from the movie so I was able to put two and two together.
I couldn't find the one of you going flat out though.

Yup. Good enough atleast. Looks great. I'll probably do that kit. I have a front bbk and I need the rears to improve the bias distribution.
