I used to get a fair amount of stuff from ECS, but lately have switched to FCP Euro. No doubt ECS has THE best website for Audi parts listings. Photos, layout, vin splits, etc. They set the bar on that. But most of my FCP orders ship for free and you cannot beat a lifetime warranty on literally everything. And they carry Volvo. C'mon ECS, why no Volvo love?

"Its old news now but i'd like to give every one a heads up (ECS IS A JOKE!). I talked to ECS on the phone and gave them there part #, they said I could just use the A8 rotor. (with that kit based on the part number I gave them) so I picked up a set of A8 rotors from them. That is the last thing i'll ever buy From them! I got them in and they were to small for my carriers (that ecs made too, that I also gave them that part number ) ECS's 2 piece rotor is about 330x25mm, A8 is 312x25mm so I had a nice bit of pad hanging off the rotor not going to fly! called ecs and asked them for a shipping label I want to return the part you told me would fit the kit you don't make any more. They said NOPE you have to pay for shipping. or we can sell you the smaller carriers for more $$$$.

Note that I had spend a lot of money with ECS before this (performance and service parts etc)

So in the end I payed for shipping both ways and still had no parts that would fit! very unhappy costumer!
If you find yourself in my shoes don't buy the smaller carrier from them (if they even sell it anymore)."

I even sent ECS these photos...
I'm feeling the same way with these same rotors. I liked them, but now the the only options for 330mm front rotors are JHM, lightly modified benz rotors with the wrong hat thickness, or other more spendy options.

I pretty much only use ECS as a Part Numbers database at this point.

yes, that is the size. That is why the options I listed exist, but are fairly pricey rotors other than modifiying the benz rotors.

The major complaint is just dealing with ECS and trying to replace their own products. It is terrible.

I always get a kick out of people saying ECS ships for profit. God forbid a business, one that sells stuff nonetheless, tries to make a profit.

That being said, that brake ordeal you experienced would have me pissed off. The closest thing I've had to being screwed over by ECS is something being back ordered when it said it was in stock but it still came only a day late so can't really complain.

Things you shouldn't do to your B5 (B5 Fails)

I bought a set of controls arms from ecs and had my shop install them...
The box was missing a control arm...
Instead of just sending me the missing controll arm, they wanted me to mail the entire set back, purchase another set, and then once they received the set w the missing control arm only then would they reimburse me for the extra set i bought...FYI my car was on the rack with half the control arms installed when we noticed the missing part.
That's the kinda shit they pull...
Same thing happened with my ecs cold air intake. The ecs logo was printed upside down on the carbon box, and only after installing the kit did I notice...
Instead of just shipping me a new carbon box and when it arrived letting me ship the faulty one back...
My options were take apart my intake and mail the faulty one back and wait for it to get to ecs then wait some more for them to ship it (it was also back ordered at the time)
Or buy another one and when it arrived ship the faulty one back, and then when it arrived at ecs I got my money back...
I still spend thousands with them tho bc there website is nice...but they greedy af

Feed back on ECS seems mixed love or hate. I'm not on board but whatever. I will be getting new carries at some point and A8 rotors

Hmmm..... I like those (my personal preference) but, I feel that you need S4 sides and rear to pull it off properly.

I was always under the impression that 17z stock rotor thickness max was 32 and min was 30.

That 25mm may over extend the Pistons.

But I may be wrong, so somebody correct me if I am.

    you are right.
The ECS rotors are for 986 not 17z. 986 4 Piston, they are run with A8 312x25 most the time. Or For whatever reason ECS had a wild hair up there A$$ one day made the stg2+ kit thats 330mmx25mm. Fail. Pics above.

The original C230 rotors are 330x28 though...The Volvo ones are 30mm, but need slight modifications to the uprights in order to clear. I know Rotorlab machines the mounting points on the calipers (which I'd assume would cancel out using washers, or shims behind the rotor)

Not all I4 engines sound good with exhaust, But the 1.8t is one of the better sounding ones. IMO. So if your B5 sounds good don't make it look bad with this.
