    2012 A4 CPO: Fuel pump issues at 27K ??

I didn't know AoA was on this forum so will post my ownership experience here since I don't know why at 27K miles, I'm having issues with my CPO 2012 A4.

As noted in this thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...el-Pump-issues

I have a CPO 2012 A4 with around 28K miles. A week before Christmas, I had my car serviced at the Audi service center for the 55K scheduled maintenance. The following week, on Christmas night, my car won't turn over. Battery is fine, just wouldn't turn over. Initially I thought it was because it was so cold. Nope. So had it towed to Audi service center and they diagnosed it as the fuel pump. Of course, CPO warranty is gone, so I had to pay outta pocket ($1k). 1 week later, today, again it happens. I was at a red light, car just dies. Try to start the car again, it won't turn over (lights, everything else comes on). I call the dealership literally telling them I was there last week for the same issue and then called my insurance to tow it there (since Audi Roadside wanted $85 for the tow and dealership would not pay for it). They fixed it under the repair warranty (since it was the same issue) and also advised to put a new battery in this time, so I said ok ($$). It drove home fine, but now I wonder if a week from now, it's gonna happen again.

So is this normal? I understand my car is 5 years old, but at 28K miles, why is this happening? Every year I take it in for maintenance, never missed once. No issues until after the 55K maintenance and of course being informed that the CPO warranty was already over. It's almost like Audi's are only good under warranty. Do I need to worry now if my car is going to face more issues now? Will it fail on me driving to work? Driving outside my parking lot? I'm a bit frustrated and now have to think if I need to get a more reliable car down the line, which from my experience (this is my 2nd A4), will not be an Audi. I don't think this should be an ownership experience.

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out and making Audi of America aware of this repair situation with your A4. I am sure that your frustrations were compounded even further as this had to happen on Christmas night....of all nights. Our goal is to avoid these situations entirely which is why we have manufacturer warranties in place. As you mentioned the New Vehicle Limited Warranty (NVLW) and subsequent Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranties that Audi placed on your vehicle were designed to provide coverage for a maximum period of 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. It's difficult for me to provide a guarantee that your vehicle will never have the same or other concerns in it's lifetime, although I completely understand where you are coming from. The best recommendation that we are able to provide is to continue following the service and maintenance guidelines laid out through Audi of America and facilitated through an Audi dealership. I am glad to learn that you contacted the dealership immediately for them to rectify the situation, which is what I would have recommended.

In a situation such as this, there is a warranty placed on the replacement OEM parts for a period of 12 months or 12,000 miles meaning if there is a malfunction it can be quickly repaired at no cost to you. Audi dealerships also offer extended warranties past the NVLW & CPO parameters if you are seeking additional peace of mind for your A4. If you have any further questions or concerns, I recommend sending over a quick PM with your VIN and contact information so I can create a formal case in our system. Thank you and have a great day.

    Best regards,
    Vincenzo F.
