    Value of my car?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I saw a 2013 VW GTI Autobahn 6MT for sale on Craigslist (Boston) and itís listed for $8500. It has 18k on the dash and a rebuilt title. It needs under $300 worth of repairs and a re-inspection. Itís a beautiful car IMO... I was wondering if it is a good deal or if it is too much of a risk. I mean itís pretty much a brand new car compared to what I have...

    Link: https://boston.craigslist.org/bmw/ct...297763557.html

I currently have a 2005 A4 B6 Avant 1.8T 6MT in Light Silver Metallic with 99,500 on the clock. It has RS6 wheels, and an S4 rear bumper and itís in mint condition. It has Xenon e-code headlights and a clean title. What do you guys think it would be worth? Would it be an even trade? I would be happy to get more than $7000 for it because of the rarity. Please let me know as I am eager for opinions! Thanks!!!!!

I think you could get 5.5k max for your car. The b7s go for around 7.5k with 100k miles on them

I'm not familiar with Mass laws, but if the damage isn't that bad, why does the title need rebuilding? In TX, a rebuilt/salvaged title indicates the vehicle was deemed a total loss by the insurance company. Minor front-end damage that's repairable with a few hand tools typically doesn't equate to a totaled car...

I come across a few of these R title GTI's from time to time and they are always way cheap. Usually they are flood cars. I'd find the real reason it was totaled before you make a decision.
2003 Three . Oh , 6 Speed, Quattro. 143k. I barely drive anymore so much less for me.

6MT avant definitely adds some value, but the visual mods aren't going to add much. I wouldn't expect a straight across trade but maybe. $7k is what I would think it would be worth, less if theres any rust or corrosion...

I sold my USP sedan a few years back for around what that GTI is listed for but time hasn't been too kind for B6 pricing unless its a true USP 6MT which mine was.

Ad just seems odd. That's super low miles for a 2013, and that bumper looks like it just popped out the clips.

Yeah it did. It sat in his garage for a year and he wants it gone so thatís why the price and miles are so low

Gotta agree with Charles on that. There is more to the story for sure.

I'm picky. I would never buy something with a rebuilt title. Unibody cars are only designed to take a big hit once. There is a good reason they get written off sometimes.

He bought it with a clean title. There was an error with the insurance company when he went to register it and he got back a salvaged title

I wouldn't do it. By the way, is it an Autobahn? The grey one behind it in the garage looks like it has the Autobahn wheels and xenons.

    Way too sketchy...

Something has obviously happened with the car for it to be priced below market value. With the amount of good cars out there, why risk buying this one?

And why accept a huge drop in resale value because the insurance made a mistake? Sounds beyond fishy to me...

Exactly, have the mistake fixed - should be easy if it was nothing more than a clerical error..

Yeah thats where I started when I was thinking about it. I wonder if it was flooded, and then he popped the bumper out to claim it was a collision issue. If the bumper will "just pop back in", then insurance would NEVER total it.

There was some light front end damage when he bought it, and he replaced everything and he said some idiot was moving the car and it hit a pole or something and just ripped it out.

Light front end damage from like...going up a crub n over two fents? Homey is trying to play you. Get that VIN, throw it in your favorite search engine, and see the insurance auction photos.
