    Green Oil!?

Just got an e-mail from ECS Tuning that they are now carrying Liqui Moly Molygen aka green oil:

    https://products.liqui-moly.com/moly...n-5w-40-5.html

Supposedly has some advantages over traditional synthetic oil, might have to give it a try next oil change.
Currently using there LEICHTLAUF HIGH TECH version, wonder if this will get outlawed in the US like Super Blue brake fluid?
Who else will be trying it as well?

I got the same email and checked it out.

It looks interesting but I already use Liqui Moly Leichtlauf.

x2, I still have a couple large bottle of the blue Leichtlauf 2332, but planning to order the new Molygen 5w40 next time I buy oil.

Interesting thing is the oil is listed as part # 9056 on Liqui Moly's website, yet the part number on the ones ECS is selling is # 20232. Makes me wonder if there's any difference.

I did notice the Molygen has a 1% higher evap loss, and a couple degrees cooler of a flash point compared to Leichtlauf.... but I don't pretend to know or understand the molecular properties of oils and additives enough to be an authority.

I will say that the color would be beneficial if you use a fluid extractor for your oil changes and you alternate from traditional gold color oil and this. Help you determine if you get all the old oil out.

    ??

It's all black coming out. And that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the oil or the engine. I've had UOAs done on 10k mile oil changes that still have another 7.5k miles of good life left, and the oil was black within 500 miles. I've used red oil (Redline), gold oil (most brands) and even clear oil (Shell PurePlus).

Motul is the best IMO. Car just feels different when I put that oil in. Maybe it's just me.

I didn't see a difference from liquimolly 2332 ( leifstauch) vs motul x-cess 8100.. I think it's all placebo at that point. When you run "good oil" VS standard moderate quality oils the butt dyno starts acting up.

I'm interested to see if this new generation of oil from liquimolly performs or feels different tho.

I didn't see any difference between synthol premium and leifstauch (spelling lol)

I must admit. This is cool tho.

Have many of you have tried it? Notice a better results than the regular LiquiMoly?

Did an oil change a little less than 800 miles ago and used it. Temps around here have been between 10-50 for the past few weeks and it seems to warm up pretty quickly when its cold which is nice. Other than that no notable difference, but I would be surprised if you felt much of a change in the car as long as your putting in decent oil and not the left over french fry grease from your local McDonalds. No oil leaks so haven't tested the whole UV aspect.

Got it as part of oil change service kit from ECS and I'm pretty sure it was much cheaper than the Amazon price, so its worth checking there if you are interested.

My oil consumption is a little above .5qt/5000 so time will tell if that changes.

I think biggest benefit is leak detection if that is a concern but you can always add an additive to regular oil to see leaks with UV light
My personal favorite is Ravenol full synthetic oil, gives me less burn off between changes than I was getting with Mobil 1 and Castrol VW Spec oils
For me putting green oil in my engine is just wrong, just saying....

That’s due to the detergents in the oil that extracts the contaminants. We lost two truck motors in Mexico because our shop was using non detergent oil. Motor locked up but pulling the dipstick the oil looked brand new.
