Might be a dumb question, but where is the air bag?

Probably not included. Airbags can be installed. But it's not something I'm very familiar with.

Will the airbag from a B7 RS4 (dual stage unit I believe) click into this wheel or are the B8's single stage units ?

    Thanks,

    Seemingly totally wrong.

    Apologize for any misdirection.

Correct, needs to be the circular airbag. The B8.5 S4/5 still used a dual stage airbag.

    Thanks,
The airbag from the B7 Euro RS4 Wheel wont fit. Only place where the B7 Euro RS4 airbag fit is in a D3.

    You need an 8K/8V airbag.

    For a B6 use 8V (Single stage)
Some variant of the 8X (Single stage) should fit, I have personnaly never used them
For a B7/B8 use an 8K (Dual stage)

I'm unsure if you could have more bad information in one post.

Euro B7 RS4 airbag wont fit. (only fits B7 RS4 euro Wheel and D3)
Dual stage airbags that will fit this steering wheel were offered from 2013-2016 in A4/A5 Slines and S4/S5. Even some post facelift Q5's got them and probably a few more models. Even pre-facelift were dual stage (2009-2012)

thanks for clearing that up Axis!

What else is needed to make this steering wheel and a 8K airbag work seamlessly with a 2008 B7 A4?

    thanks a lot!!!

Only thing else needed would be to re-pin the harness (assuming OP hasn't already done so) and you should be good to go! There are a lot of DIY's on re-pinning the harness for a B7 here on the forums.

All you need to do is re-pin the B7 airbag connector on the 8K harness respecting the color coding and pinout position of the 8K harness. You dont touch anything steering wise.

Its a screen shot from the DIY I made in the B7 section but I asked the moderator to delete it since I dont want to feel responsible if something happened to someone because they f-up the install.

Btw Rouge in the screenshots means red ;)

Same steering OP is selling installed in my B7 but I changed the badge for an Sline badge. Might give an idea to potential buyers of what it looks like.
