All I know is that it's an RS4 replica. It definitely is lower than the side skirts but not too much that it looks dumb. I scraped it going into a Halo Burger and the car isn't really much lower than stock in the front. I miss driving my lifted F350, dont worry about hitting anything hehe, she'll be back in the spring when there's no salt.

It fits pretty well, and looks good but I like the clean look of the OE bumper. The blue RS4 bumper is eventually going to get the crack fixed and it will be painted and installed on my fathers black S4 like the original plan as soon as I finish my bumper repairs.

Just ordered some LED switchback turn signals and some LED high beams so I won't have to deal with so much orange and yellow light. I still need to figure out why my reverse lights dont work even with new bulbs. I don't think it's a fuse, I'll have to dig in and unplug the switch from the transmission and see if it's the switch.

I blew one of my hardlines underneath the ABS module this morning on my way to work. Oddly enough, the car is clean and none of the lines have any rust. Must have been a stress crack of some sort. Hopefully it doesn't leak so badly that I can't limp home on a few bottles on brake fluid as I did on the way here. A tow is way too much hastle and a ton of cost for an hour drive. Hopefully it's not too hard to fix.

Someone had replaced the line before, and when they installed it, they didn't rebolt the upper bracket back onto the brake caliper where the brake flex hose and the abs sensor wire come in, so the bracket flexed the hard line back and forth for all the time until it cracked the hard line down at the bottom next to where it goes into the caliper. I bent a new line and found an M8 bolt to hold the upper bracket in place like it's supposed to, and then hooked everything back up and bled hte brakes and were back to normal now and the brakes have never felt better. Although, I think I could bleed a little more throughout the system to get a slightly better pedal. We'll figure out soon enough.

The title of this thread is the understatement of the year. This s4 needed WAY more than just an engine.

Lol, it was "supposedly" needing only an engine, axles, radiator, bumper, and a tire. We can all thank the previous owner for being so forward about certain things.... but what can ya do. (oh right, buy that stage 3 s4 with a rebuilt title for less than what I've got into this one... oh right)

Maybe a mod can change the title to something much less misleading... Perhaps "S4 great awakening" or something hehe

hopefully someone has a better witty title than that though.

Lol those are funny. It's been a fun experience and I've enjoyed it a lot. We had a decent snowstorm last night as we always do on the day of the superbowl and I was glad to have Quattro. That's all I can say...

I got LED Switchback Running lights and H7 LED high beam bulbs and installed them yesterday. They are EXTREMELY bright! The running lights all by themselves are actually quite efficient fog lights. I noticed way more visibility off to the side, and I turned off my headlights last night to look, and there was actually half decent light just from the running lights. The high beams are ridiculous, I'm very impressed, I need to aim them down slightly but they're great.

NOTE: just remove the headlight to do anything, it's wayyy easier.

    Here is a picture...

Just developed a small fuel leak from around my fuel filter somewhere. Since I was already planning on swapping it out sometime soon, I guess that'll be tonight. Hopefully it has to do with the filter and isn't a bad line as I would like to drive this to work tomorrow as I do everyday...

Iíve met a few. It might be a guy named Aaron.

So quick update: since the car was going to be parked for about a week before the new fuel line came in the mail, I pulled the engine to replace he clutch while I was waiting. I did some measurements and a stock clutch WILL work on the valeo single mass flywheel with slight work. The main difference is just the Dowels that the pressure plate rises on, are larger diameter on the stock PP compared to the valeo. So Iíll get the new clutch ready to go on tomorrow. Then replace my fuel line and be about ready to drop the engine back in in the next few days. Iíll add some pics maybe tomorrow.

I got my fuel line and filter replaced so the leak is fixed and the engine in and out in the last week with the new LUK clutch mounted to the Valeo flywheel with slight modifications. Put it all back together and changed the oil with Mobil 1 Euro formula, if I remember correctly 0w-40 and a new Mann filter.

The car is doing great. I have about 50 miles on the clutch so far and itís starting to gain some pedal feel which is comforting. It hasnít slipped at all. Even though Iíve been babying it, Iím pretty confident that itís working out pretty well so far. Iíll put up pictures tomorrow from a computer instead of my phone.

Im also very excited about picking up some nice looking newer style RS4 rep wheels with Michelin winter tires on them for $320. Theyíre gonna look great on my car as long as the tires fit. My car was modified to be slammed at one point in its past so even the 245/45/18s might fit. My largest concern is rubbing on the rear upright or the windshield washer bottle so weíll see tomorrow when I get a chance to test fit them.

Also I found the perfect place to take pictures if you have a noggy... hehe look at the carwash photo

The clutch had about 50 miles on it last night, now almost 100, but it's definitely improving in pedal feel. Seems to be functioning perfectly, I haven't pushed it enough to slip but I don't think it will.

What kind of ledís did you get for the high beams?

Also, donít think those tires will fit. Last year I ordered 235/40/18ís for my rs4 reps and they accidentally put on 235/45/18ís on and they rubbed a decent amount on the rear uprights

I'm doubtful that they'll fit, but I do have some spacers somewhere that might allow them to squeeze in there. I really got them for the wheels anyway so I should be able to sell the tires if they dont fit.

The LED's were from Amazon, this whole setup is fantastic. The colors are amazing, they are very bright. Really changed the look of the car for not being a very substantial change.

Also, if you get those LED's, they work great, but they are a large struggle to get the retaining clip around. You'll have to push it down but not clip it in, then slide the bulb on top of it and bend them to the side around the bulb, one side at a time. Otherwise they fit nicely. Also, if I remmber correctly, look on the LED plug and the PLUS (+) will go to the white wire in your headlight.

All they have them in is 6500k. Iíd rather 4 or 5k. How blue are they?

They don't seem super blue to me. Mostly just super bright white with some blue tinge. I think that the standard might not be perfectly consistent between LED's and HID's but I could be wrong. 4300k is going to look almost exactly like a halogen. Yellowy. 5500K is basically straight white, and 6000-7000K would be bluey, but these LED's seem more white with blue tinge so who knows.

Look at this pic. They look almost all white in the picture, but I would say they match the color of the running lights in the photo almost perfectly.

I got the 5500k morimoto for driving and they were too blue. I ended up getting 4500k and theyíre a perfect white. But as you stated, depending on the brand being led or hid the colors vary.
I guess that pic in the car wash kinda scared me

Oh, the car wash had a VERY blue overhead light which is probably why they looked that way. I don't honestly think they're very blue. I could look at the box and see what it says, maybe the 6500k is a misprint and it was supposed to say 5500k? I'm not sure, all I know is that I don't think they're super blue.

No worries. Theyíre an upgrade from the yellow halogen regardless. I was thinking about doing them hid but really didnít wanna have to figure out where to put the ballasts. I never thought aftermarket leds put out good light but those look pretty bright. Looks like a good solution

    Thanks

My 94 F150 Lightning has HID's replacing the stock halogens from one of the previous owners, and they aren't set up very well, and they do work pretty well, but at that point I would just save some money and get LED or a white/blueish tinted halogen. Especially since the ballasts are ziptied into terrible locations. I will probably clean up that system soon.

The switchbacks are really neat too if you wanted to try them. I have them in my Audi and my 08 F350 and they look and work very nicely. Just make sure you buy the resistors if you get the switchbacks or you'll get a super annoying fast blinker.

Ford Lightning you say? I may have been the first person to put it gently, test the acceleration and handling abilities of your truck. I used to work at Michigan Truck, the plant that built them and one of the various jobs I did was to drive them to the lot where they were to be shipped out. It was a good 1/2 mile away. I may have done a few hot laps around the yard once there.

The new clutch has approximately 2000 miles on it now and it's been doing well. I was able to downshift to 3rd and floor it to pass someone today and I was very happy to be able to do that without it slipping. :)

Picking up a Silver 02 S4 on Saturday that was hit in the back. Not sure whether or not to try to fix it or part out yet, as I haven't seen the damage in person. It was a good deal though. It's got some nice parts though. I'm excited, I might start a new thread for that one depending on how it looks.....

My car's running great still. I'm happy with it. Everytime I sit in it I think, "I love this car."

B5 people who sold their car and never bought another... How?

Ok, I forgot to update as I've been busy busy restoring my F150, but I did get the Silver S4 on Saturday. It's a gorgeous car but definitely too messed up to save. If someone has an empty silver shell that they parted out in the detroit area with a clean title, let me know, but the rear door doesn't seal or even shut all the way. Car has 3 inch catless downpipes and 3 inch single Borla exhaust with one muffler in the back. Stage 2 ETSpec tune. Lots of OEM good parts but not many aftermarket things.

I took the shifter boot off and put it in my Gray S4. Tonight, I'm going to clean up the floor mats and swap them into my car. I'll also swap the headlight ballasts and grab some weatherstripping. I'm also planning to swap the battery to my car to replace my very old battery that's not even the right one. And if it's not too hard, I'd like to switch out the hood release cable since mine is kinda jammed and rusty. Might even get the passenger mirrors swapped since mine has a chunk missing from the plastic and the glass is gross.

Installed my headlight ballasts from my new parts car last night but one of my headlight bulbs is also burned out. If it's not one thing it's the other. Great.... Gonna hopefully get some of the other things cleaned up soon too.

The car that my engine came out of had been hit in the front, so ever since I installed it, it's probably needed a power steering pump, but it's finally gotten bad enough lately so I pulled the pump off of my parts engine and got it swapped out last night. It's a huge improvement, so much smoother and silent. It's so nice to get out of my car, bump the steering wheel and not hear a loud eeuuuurrrnrnnnnnn.

Also, small update. My reverse lights decided to start working last night. I've only had the car for 12,000 miles worth of driving. I finally ordered a new reverse light switch but it's on backorder, then they just started working by themselves so I'm pretty happy!

In my experience thatís the worst possible scenario. Nothing worse than intermittent issues you cannot recreate.

I actually knew what was wrong, I'm not exactly sure why it decided to start working but it's been consistently working now. The old switch was getting pretty old but I took it out and cleaned and made sure it was still making contact and put it back in but it took some pushing to get the plunger in far enough to engage the switch but it must have started contacting again. I have a switch on backorder so I'll see if I can get a refund on that order.
