Let's say I want to drill holes in my stock S7 airbox until I get something else. Where are those drill holes exactly and what size did you all drill? Anyone have pics?

The vents are from Home Depot... check the plumbing section. I think I went with 1.5" holes.

Interesting use of the drain covers GolfGL. I'm sure a few people will mimic your design.

Those tools are called hole saws. Anybody that does electrical work can pop a couple of holes in plastic.

If you decide to buy the tool, you'll need the saw, a mandrel to hold the saw and a bit to keep it centered.

anyone else drill more holes underneath?

I drilled more or less the same pattern of the RS box in my S6 box.
Didn't noticed much noise difference under load (but milltek non-res/catless).

Anymore intake sound from this mod ? I am cosindering doing it on my BiTDI + maybe changing the air filter but i think the OEM one is good enough. I just want to get more sound instead of the rattling diesel one :>.

Bit offtopic, but since this about the 'stock' airbox and improving it for what it is worth....
Like some i added the RS holes, not sure if it helped much.
But after i got some lack op power recently again and swapping airfilter (k&n) i got my full power again (maybe it was my gas i started to take form other pumpstation).
Anyway, i was looking at the eventuri. Sadely out of my range but i was wondering how much benefit a simple guider/scoop/lip would contribute on the airbox.
Fact is, by default there is only a small gap between intercooler/airco and at least in my case there is a plastic piece behind the grill covering direct inlet/airflow to the oem scope. I got aftermarket charge cooler witch limits airflow even more.... I might make a custom lip like eventuri to properly guide airflow (and maybe cut the plastic blocker).

Anybody know how we can log cubic airflow entering the the engine?

An OBD tool should give you a reading off the mass air flow sensor.

I have obdeleven, strangely enough when i don't connect to car yet and go into my carprofile i do get an mass airflow sensor data log, but once i connect it to can it no longer is an availible option (might need to check in the live data logging). But thanks :).

Is there any evidence that this may help on the 3.0T? I already have an Injen intake/filter, and wondering if adding a few holes would accomplish anything besides possible sucking in hot air.. Or maybe more benefit with a stage 2 tune assuming the supercharger is pulling in more air volume?

No idea, but looks most boxed intakes these days go for semi open boxes. Personally more interested if adding the extra lip and additional rammed airflow will help (something tells me it would). Going to try test it asap :). I will not trim or cut anything inside the box as i have seen else where (refurring to the side flap inside, still think that is to prevent water to fly on the filter, you do not want that!).
If not mistaken, but don't supercharger benefit more from rammed air?

First, picture of the holes i had made to my stock S6 airbox...
Secondly, i hadn't really noticed it, but since i added aftermarket charged cooler (JD engineering), the gap between grill-cooler-airinlet was reduced pretty big time! Not sure if the alpha/apr or other coolers are sticking out that high, but at least in my case it was reducing space bit time. Also got (china) RS grill and it came with an closed top back frame (2 strokes almost untill above the s6 badge height).
Decided to free up and trim out the plastic without loosing structural support.
Did a test drive, sofar i haven't noticed a change in the mass air flow, still around 1700kg/h (if that is the correct value i was checking).
Didn't made a 'lip' yet to more efficient guide the air, looks it isn't really needed and engine doesn't require more air?
