Prefacelift A4 Vanity/Sun Visor Bulb Type?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Doing a LED retrofit. Looked everywhere and can't find the answer. Facelifts have them set up in a different way.

Can't find the thread anymore but they were apparently 3610 type bulbs but I can confirm they aren't. Bulb says "Phillips 12V3W 8J5 Made in France"

Bottom: Bulb I took out of the vanity light
Middle: The 3610 it was supposed to be
    Top: LED 3610 replacement.

You should be able to measure the overall length (point - point) and contact diameter, then find the equivalent 3W festoon bulb to replace it with.

This is what SuperBrightLED says it is for my '98. A #578 44mm Festoon

Sadly that doesn't look to be it. I actually have one of these, just a slightly different version with glass around the LED (https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...-car/237/1123/). It goes in the center of the overhead unit.

I measured the length of the original bulb and its around 35mm.

    Socket:

    578 44mm in comparison:

This one perhaps? Has to be thin enough to fit into the socket.

If the bulb measured around 35mm, I think this would be a better bet, a 6418

    https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...-36mm-car/233/]

Or, according to the bulb finder a 3710 (not 3610) will work.

The 3710 is a better bet since it's thin, the 3610 is too thick. Also tried that one.

Again, according to the bulb finder, It's the same bulb as the glove box bulb. So maybe pop it out and test it. Then you can order a few and replace them all at the same time.

The glove box is 3610, I know it doesn't work. Bulb finder isn't correct. Facelift vanity is probably 3610. Or 3610 is the right one for the socket but because of the location it doesn't physically fit.

    3710 looks to be correct.

This was before companies started to really make the LED kits for our cars.

Ya, I am always sceptical of the Bulb Finder

Thanks a lot. That's the thread I couldn't find. It was what I based my original set on.

From the discussion the prefacelift vanity lights they are 36mm with thin bases. The 3610's I have don't work since the glass casing makes it too thick. A thin 3610 (which I can't seem to find? The non glass ones have a heat deflector that might be too large + pcb size) or a thin 3710 (but might be too long) would work.
