Just my input coming from a B8.5 S4 guy, I never get tired of that SC whine.

These cars in stock form are so quiet and refined, which is nice, but a Stage 2 car with an open intake is just amazing IMO.

I also love the head snaps I get trying to figure out what the hell that sound is

So true, people always look so surprised by the sound when you blow by them

@Mickmerr62 glad you finally got it in there. For anyone following these photos pre-install, you CAN get the intake pipe and filter in there contact-free. You really need to rotate the pipe at the perfect angle to fit as Roc Euro intended- play with the rotation until you get it right. I recommend bending the heat shield for clearance or lowering the heat shield in at the same time as the rest of the rig to make fitment easier - Mickmerr you really had to mangle the filter to get it in there

Thanks for the feedback, as it turned out the filter regained it's shape if you are referring to the fins after I revisited the following day and if I'm honest I was more concerned with mangled fingers!

That said, I found that the intake pipe had more room to move up in the sleeve that connects it to the throttle body and no rotation was needed or heat shield bending was necessary in the end to have it contact free.

A learning experience to be sure.

But hood closed and fun abounds

I played around with my air box today to gut some internal stuff. No much in there for the size of that box.

Roc Euro intake here too, it fitted fine but was tight to move around with the heatshield in place. The sound is addictive!

I took a couple at the weekend but have not figured out how to upload but in any event I'm changing my exhaust setup a bit more on Thursday so will retake the video once that's done.

    What's your exhaust setup?
I'm almost certain I'm going with the Mototec Exhaust for my Avant

    Or

And I got a sweet deal in the Roc Euro Intake so that's on order now.

    I haz excite now

I was thinking the only way to gain actual HP and not just a cool sound is if you increase intake you must increase exhaust output. Do they make a header back exhaust system for the A6? All I've read about are cat backs and that still leaves you intake mods restricted by the factory exhaust from the header to the cats.

@kneel $899 for a couple of mufflers and tips?? Too much IMHO. Especially if you are keeping the the OEM resonators (front and Center). It may look nice, but really doubt if you are going to get any real sound increase. For less than the cost of the Mototec system, you can go with Magnaflow components INSTALLED and achieve a better sound and free'r flow.

There are not any off-the-self systems for our cars. Everything you do will need to be custom setup. Cutting out the resonators, adding a resonated x-pipe and free'r flowing mufflers will increase flow (reduce back pressure). If you wanted more flow, add High flow cats and up the pipe diameter from 2.25" to 2.5" or even 3".
I have see long tube headers for the 3.0t motor (aimed at the b8 S4/S5 crowd) that were Chinese made. No idea if they will fit our cars though.

Unless there is additional piping included that is not pictured, I have a hard time believing that. Here is a pic of a complete exhaust from our cars. This came off my car and was cut out just in front of the forward resonators.

Ohhh ok so it only goes to the rear resonators (I think that's what they are)

Guess I gotta get under there and see where and what.
I don't what the Raspy loud I've heard on these. I'm afraid of drone in the large cabin.

The center resonators sit right about rear cabin and the front resonators sit right about the front foot wells.
My system deleted the front resonators and put a Magnaflow resonated x-pipe in their place and ran straight pipes back to the Magnaflow rear mufflers (deleting the center resonators all together). Here is a link to a YouTube video I did using a Go-Pro mounted to the rear bumper. Don't mind the video quality but the sound is fine.

I have broadly the same setup as my loyal subject Sin (apology accepted hah) but only arrived at that point today having tried other options initially.

To my mind this is ideal, no horrible drone but a deep sound. I'm going to take my own video at the weekend to compare the improvement over last weekend's run.
