I'm liking this car much better then a/5 or s/5. Much more luxury and I'm sure performance will be very close to s5.

Well yeah obviously. The E Class is a 6 Series and A6 competitor; not a A4/A5 competitor. That's the job of the C Class sedan and coupe. Audi doesn't have a 6 Series or E Class coupe competitor.

I would differ with that statement. It seems to me the comparable cars would be Merc E/CLS, BMW 5/6, and Audi 6/7.

Edit: Just understood what you are saying...yes agree no mid-sized coupe with Audi. A/S5 is definitely NOT an E equivalent.

now imagine if they made an a/s/rs7 coupe.... I saw an ad in a magazine one time for the new (at the time) A7. I folded the pages over to make it a coupe.. looked very 240z-ish. lol (I'm very partial to datsun/nissan)

This is like comparing apples to kumquats. The E class coupe will be softer, larger, and more luxurious.

I'm actually against the car now. I don't like that it doesn't have a shifter on the floor. This pretty much is the norm for all Mercedes now accept the really high end expensive models.

I saw the E350 coupe at the Chicago Auto show last week. Other than the RS7, the E350 coupe was my favorite car at the show. The E350 is a gorgeous coupe, the interior was magnificent and had great proportions to its styling overall. Outta my price range or I'd seriously consider it.

Price range should be around S5 money. I just can't get over the fact that there is no floor shifter.

Huh, the MB rep said the E350 was stating at 70K. Coming to showrooms in June.

70k seems a bit too high. The 2017 E400 coupe is going for ~54k. I can't imagine it jumping 16k

neither does MB ... unless you're talking about the E50 variant

Way to high. I don't even believe there will be AMG variant of this car. The regular car is almost an AMG. They used to only offer AMG variants of the CLK only in Europe. Convertible only here.

there will be an E-Class Coupe wearing the AMG badge ... only question is whether it will be a "real" AMG (hand built - one man, one engine philosophy) or powered by an "AMG-enhanced" engine (such as the current line of AMG 43's which are massaged and re-branded 450 models) which is causing all sorts of controversy on the AMG forums (meaning the purists don't accept these 43's as "true" AMG models - despite what the manufacturer has labeled them - and liken them ((without saying as much)) to BMW's which have been de-badged and now wear M3 designation).

My bad, it was the 2018 E400 coupe she said was 70k. Not E350. Still seems pretty steep.

They only have E400/E550 coupes right now. The E400 coupe is only starting for 54.5k. No way a 2018 E400 will jump 16k unless the rep was already including options.

Why do you care? The MB shifter is very nice and frees up valuable space. Go play with one.

Could be that the one at the auto show on display was 70k.

Either way is was a great looking coupe. MB did a nice job with it.

Yeah probably the case. And yes, very nice looking coupe. I really love how MB do their pillar-less design.
