    Apr backing warranties

I was on aprs website it seems as though they are going to start doing what Dinan does with working together with dealerships offer a 60k power train warranty. The first dealership is vw in linden NJ. Stating that new cars purchased will even allow you to finance your upgrades and roll them into the cost of the car.

It's really a stage 0.5 tune. The power gains are not as impressive as the regular tune, the cost is much higher, and the factory powertrain warranty is replaced by a third party warranty. Without knowing the fine details of the third party warranty there may be a deductible or other hidden fees/things not covered by the factory warranty.

correct, its not the same as the Dinan warranty I don't believe?. APR is using a third party insurance type company to offer a warranty coverage "plan". will that company honor claims, be in business down the road etc?. I've seen other companies try the third party warranty deals and haven't had much success (again only from what I had seen), hence why APR has only one dealer "on the program" to start. they would have to solicit other dealers to accept this program to expand its offering and reach to the consumer.

I was at work when I quickly read it, and then I re-read everything. The power their offering is minimal for what would probably be twice the cost. Maybe a step in the right direction. We shall see.

What does this tell you about what APR thinks of the reliability and safety of its actual Stage 1 tune?

offering a lower tune in this manner is also a way to increase demand for their full tunes outside of this program---and its probably a concession to dealers who "think that tunes blow up engines"

And is cheaper to insure via a 3rd party.

I much prefer Geico Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. $250 deductible, but covers up to 7yrs and 100k. Costs about $150 a year extra.

Is this a standalone product or do I need Geico as my primary insurance?

It's an add on to an existing geico policy. You have to buy it when the car is relatively new (18 months or less). It does go up in price after factory warranty expires. I just like to have it in case td1. One A3 owner got a rebuilt engine after td1 thru this coverage.

I thought you couldn't use the insurance in till AFTER your factory warranty runs out ? I have to look into this. If that's the case everyone should just get this insurance and tune the car and not worry about warranty.

It kicks in when dealer denies warranty. AOA has to formally deny your claim in writing. Then Geico steps in to cover.

You have to work that out with dealer, AOA and Geico. I've been thru it a few times while TD1 on my a4 b8.

Regardless you should flash back to stock every time before dealer visit.

Work it out how ? Lol

So if the dealer voids the warranty in writing,GEICO will cover the repairs even if the dealer states it was voided from the engine being modified ?

That's exactly what happened to one of the a3 guys here. Anyway, you can simply call Geico directly to get all these questions answered.

To me it's a worthwhile insurance in case flashing back to stock still triggers td1.

    Some good reading...
