Yeah I think so and it looks alot better than the chrome one imo. But in saying that it's not about looks but performance and longevity and only time will tell! (Who am I kidding it's an Audi it's all about looks, lol)

That's what I was thinking, much better than bright metal. But idk if the "3mm" is actually 3mm like it says, cause in the description of it it only says 1.7

No it's definitely thicker than 1.7mm I would say 3mm easily, if you get it just do as said in the thread and get that 1" piece of rod welded in for piece of mind and it should be fine.

If anyone is interested, log manifolds tend to be much better then tubulars. There are several aftermarket log styles available.

I've been considering this opinion, Stumbled upon the following test/article performed on a B-series Honda which states
    Link to Testf

"The test proved that the Full-Race ProStreet manifold (tubular) offers greater performance than a log or cast style manifold. The Tubular manifold generated a peak gain of 48whp and a peak gain of44 ft/lb after tuning. Midrange and overall powerband gains where also greater with the Tubular Manifold when compared to the log style manifold."

The benefits I see with a tubular are the separation of exhaust pulses and overall free flow of exhaust however the turbine housing is still a choking point as it is quite small. In contrast the log/cast manifold is able to carry more heat due to its thickness which would help with turbo spooling.

    What are your findings/thoughts?
Maintaining a 12 year old Audi is about as expensive as Charlie Sheen's coke habbit.

I watch Mighty Car Mods all the time and Turbo Yoda loves his log manifolds. My biggest complaint I've tubular manifolds is durability. Also, the turbo flange and exhaust housing are a much bigger restriction then the runners.

You're exactly right... if that much engineering effort has gone into the design of the manifold. I can almost guarantee you though that for $300 (or like $100 for the old version) xs-power did not do any designing with the pulses or overall free flow taken into consideration.

Truth... but whose manifold is this a copy of? Or did the cheap stuff put them out of business already? Far as I can recall, I've not seen anything saying this mani of equal length... is it?

Equal length is good for NA and SC cars where you an tune the exhaust. With turbos, you just want to get the exhaust gases to the turbine as fast as possible.

They used one, by cutting off the KKK flange, and welding a drop down pipe.

That engine bay is half finished, that's why it's so tidy looking. Look closer, it doesn't have any wiring, or fuel lines plumbed in.

And as far as I've seen other then 034 Motorsport is E-bay test pipes that will need the bung moved. So far, every aftermarket testpipe you don't have to do anything.

Yeah I had a Chinese test pipe before I got this and the O2 sensor sat hundredeths of a millimetre of the oem cast manifold.

That's the reason I had it relocated so I can still run both O2 sensors.

Your front 02 is supposed to be pre cat to get important exhaust gas readings right from the motor for air to fuel mixture.

I had a 90 bung made for mine when I had my tubular that had Turbo in stock location.

Anyone try the SCH40 manifold? I have a 2871 elimi and a knockoff high flow manifold. No way can I get the nuts tightened up. Either swapping out for SHCS in a few locations or going to this manifold.

"No way can get nuts tightened"

Manifold to turbo or maifold to head?

For the manifold to turbo, swap out to grade 10 Allen bolts and use a ball socket Allen wrench.

There's also no reason you couldn't do that too by replacing the exhaust port studs with Allen bolts (however I kept the studs). And or, leave the two outter oem studs in place, and rest bolts, just like the intake manifold.
Having a bucket that runs 10's is like saying you have a 200lb girlfriend but she's good in bed.

Manifold to turbo or maifold to head?

For the manifold to turbo, swap out to grade 10 Allen bolts and use a ball socket Allen wrench.

I managed to get all nuts done up tight except for that one nut you have to put on before sliding the manifold hard up to the block but I'm sure with a Crows foot I'll get it.

I have a cast high-flow manifold currently. Wondering is this new SCH40 tubular has been used? Is there an issue with getting the manifold to head nuts tightened?
