Yeah, unless you get a really good deal on the S4 motor. tranny, ecu and all that shit i would say just trade in for an S4. There are so many more things to an S4 than just the motor.

A new S4 here in Denmark costs about $ 215.000,- (we have alomst 200% tax on cars )
If the engine fits in my car we'll install it ourself.
i bet it could be done. prolly just have to replace all the electronics as well. new ecu/dash cluster ect. Might need the help of a friendly audi dealer to reset/code some stuff? I am not sure.
I'm pretty sure you can make mad power on the 4.2 with Schrick cams, programming, and a free flowing exhaust. It is a shame the car weighs 3700 pounds.

I concur, well said, I think it's a waste of time and $ to transplant. I think the S4 actually weighs more like 3900 lbs.?

That was me, didn't mean to mislead anyone into thinking I was that ambitious!
he already said that theres nearly 200% tax on cars in denmark, it would be exponentially cheaper to do an engine swap in his case, and i know they can do it because they've done quite a bit of crazy stuff to his car in the past from what i remember.
man im not sure about engine swap... that shit would be so complicated with the electronics, and not to mention all the BS with quattro and shit, the car would never drive the way it's supposed to.
then have them build you the 2.1 motor with a gt2871r or gt3071r, run some probably 580cc injectors or so, and have somebody make custom software for it, giac, revo, etc. and you will be at a minimum of 400 wheel horsepower... and it wouldnt be all laggy as hell like if you just slapped a huge turbo on the 1.8 liter... and the pricetag... probably a total of 10grand....
to swap the S4 motor in would cost atleast 15k because its gonna be a lot more than just the motor you need to swap... plus the S4 motor would not have near as much horsepower...
Awesome. Congrats for having the "palle" to do it and ignore the comments on this thread. Let us know how things go. Do you have a target date for completion, other than as soon as possible?
