    2013 RS5 vs 07/08 997.1 TT, What to buy?

    Im at a cross roads and would like some other peoples opinions. I really like both cars a lot. The RS has all the tech, a high reving V8, possibly the best in the world, a great AWD system and awesome interior. The TT is faster, has tons of power available on tap, iconic looks, AWD and is very reliable but its lacking with poor technology and the interior is not as nice. This car will be my DD except in the winter when I will mainly drive my SUV. The other big benefit to the RS is the waranty.

    You can't go wrong either way. But I'd take the 997TT hands down.

    If you have another car for the winter then you should go with the 997TT, no question. I considered the exact same question as you prior to buying my RS5. The difference being that I needed one car to do it all.

    I had a 08 c4s that I drove year round. They are very capable in snow with good snow tires. They ride like a sports car though and not like a gt car. So I'm not sure what you are coming from but driving one daily can take some adjustment.

    Agreed. In stop and go traffic, driving a manual in a car like the 911 for me was tough. My commute is about 40-60 minutes each way - it got rough.

    Yeah stop and go traffic can be a chore in a 997. I put about 45k (~8k miles/yr) on mine and drove it daily. Fortunately I live pretty far from the city so my commutes didn't involve much traffic. If you are looking at manuals and you deal with traffic I would definitely put that on the list of potential concerns.

    Warranty is also a very important factor. Porsche's are not cheap to fix. Parts are expensive and good labor is hard to find. That being said mine was very reliable but even with routine maintenance on wear items such as Belts, Spark plugs, brakes, coils... I ended up putting in about $8-10k into the car.
