Seat rail will bolt right up, connectors differ. You need do de-pin the B8 connector and pin B6/B7 connectors in place.

Also, seat belt attach on the seat in a B6/B7 and iirc on the chassis in a B8. You will have to fabricate a bracket for the seat belt.

Without ethanol is much better....You will get increased mileage (more energy to burn) and slightly increased HP because Ethanol lowers the octane content inherently.

I exclusively fill up with exact that, 91 non ethanol every time I can and have been for many years now. Surprised this is not common knowledge by now

Much learned. I'm going to use non ethanol at my next refuel. Thanks

It's riveted on. It can be removed and replaced but it's more trouble than its worth. I would vinyl wrap it with shadowline vinyl or have it painted professionally for a blacked out look.

I'm battling a likely oil cooler leak. Just the gasket should fix it? Or do I need to the whole oil cooler unit?

Got the two gaskets cooler and oil housing.

Looking for the torque specs now for the bolts to put everything back in.

I'm thinking I should be okay with just the gasket for the cooler. I probably my will do the oil filter housing gasket while I'm in there. I'm also nervous my housing will end up being cracked or will begin to crack upon disassembly, and I do NOT want to shell out the $200+ for a new one of those. I got books for college to pay for this month lol

Recently replaced the whole housing including gasket. Given the likely mileage and age on these cars I did it for peace of mind while I was there. Kept the cooler though.

Just do both as filter housing is just 4 bolts away after removing the cooler :)

Pretty sure people quoted Audi spec as a liter/1k miles. Personally I'd say that's pretty bad, some people have worse and topping off works. You kinda have to decide yourself where the line is drawn. By the sounds of it, fixing the biggest issues is expensive

Ethanol increases octane. That's why everyone likes E85.

What size is the crank pulley bolt? I need to turn the engine by hand and I don't have anything big enough. Would like to know before I run out and try to get the right size.

19mm 12 point socket for the stock bolt. 23mm 12 point socket for an ARP crank bolt.

Did you have a 12 point socket? ARP makes an upgraded bolt that is stronger and has a larger head. It's a $50 bolt.

    https://www.performancebyie.com/arp-...8t-fsi-engines

Make sure you have a 12 point socket and wire brush off any rust that may be on the bolt head.

Ah no I didn't use a 12 point socket. Is there anything wrong with turning the engine by the nut at the timing belt?

I would not recommend it. It puts a lot of strain on the timing belt. The belt is meant to rotate the cams when driven by the crank, not the other way around. If you absolutely must do it, put the trans in neutral and remove the spark plugs.

Okay I get what your saying. Plugs are out at the moment, but I'll prolly just go get the right socket and turn it by the crank.

It allows a more free flowing exhaust. Always helpful in turbo applications. May see an additional 5-10 hp gains.

Your mufflers and resonators regulate the exhaust noise/tone. The TP should not make a difference.

The test pipe is cat-less. So if you are worried about emissions or live where it matters, the TP will be a no go.

That's crazy, you don't even get inspections there? In PA it's county based if you need emissions or not but everywhere needs yearly inspection.. must be nice

I guess because is a tourism place. I have never ever gotten and inspection in my life. I know my buddy is a NY and they are assholes about inspections.

That shouldn't matter too much; the onus would be on rental places to keep their cars inspected and anyone who drives in would have to follow their home town regulations anyway. From other people's stories here I can definitely see that. Even when I had to get emissions (on previous cars) it wasn't as stringent as some sound. Then again I wasn't ripping around in a bt racecar ever..

While we're talking test pipes and HFC's, does anyone know if you can buy replacement turbo to cat bolts? Can they be replaced, or are the studs part of the turbo?

I was going to swap out my cat for 034 HFC next weekend, but I'm concerned about cracking a bolt in half since everything is original.

They are studs and replaceable. I just did it.

ECS doesnt seem to sell them separately, but they cant be expensive from the dealer.
