Oh Man, ... Sorry to hear that you are letting it go ... I can attest it is an amazing ride and VERY well built! I was lucky enough to have gone for a ride in it when I was passing through Colorado this summer. Amazing car! Let's hope it goes to a good home ... :)

1). Threw on some much needed new rubber. Went with a sleeper @ a great price! Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's 255/35/19. Solid all around performer with good grab esp after the initial drive.

Nice work bro! How are you liking the 26" FTG ride height? I still rub with stuff in the trunk and people in the backseat.

The car actually drives really nice. I just never drive it on the highway so getting into boost doesn't happen offen. Too much traffic now in town and on the freeway.

So this happened about a month ago, just never got around to posting it.
Made the jump right to APR Stage 2, with nearly 44k miles on my 2013 a4.
APR downpipe running with stock exhaust. I'm on the lookout for new pipes, so if you know anyone in the Tri-State, send them my way

Oh, I almost forgot, I f*cking love it.

It is ridiculous how much congestion there is now on the highway. I don't like going over 100 and that where this car shines.

What did you do to your B8 today?

ECS FMIC with Wagner FMIC Silicone Couplers. I was originanly gonna get the ECS couplers but i didn't wanna wait a week for them to be back in stock so I just bought the two front Wagner ones. I am super pleased and it is a perfect combo imo. Looking forward to a new stage 3 flash for the F23L.

I think you got that backwards. 0w-40 protects better on startup, because it flows better at 40 degrees C and below. There's a lot of misinformation at there, but just because an oil is heavier does not mean it protects better. Besides, the number that really matters isn't on the front of the bottle. Its the HTHS rating that really matters. The minimum HTHS for VW 502/505 oils is 3.5.

Again, thinking a lower viscosity rating (higher flow) is ALWAYS better is grossly simplifying things. Where is the limit? How thin do you want your oil to be? Flow is important, but it is not the only aspect of oil that matters. If it was the only thing that mattered we'd all be running 0w0 viscosity all day every day. Ask yourself why Audi did not recommend 0w40 from the factory.

I agree, thicker oil does not mean better protection. It would be a huge mistake for someone to assume 20w50 is always better in every application. That said, going extreme in the opposite direction (thinner is always better) is just as wrong.

Haha.. Now that I look at the pictures. There's a bit of mini scratches on the surface. I actually only used spray nine and rubbed mostly with a microfiber, there was a bit of carbon build up in the top. I used a dish sponge to rub that off.

I'm going to clean them again with a metal Polish this week. Running no catalytic converter kinda leads to some darkened tips in no time.

I can guarantee the 0w-40 is thicker on startup than the 5w-40 is at operating temp. I mean, do you think oil gets thicker as it gets hotter? No, it does not. That 0w-40 is still too thick at even 40 degrees Celsius to properly lubricate the engine, but it will lubricate better at 40C than the 5w-40. And, the 0w-40 will be as close to the 5w-40 at 100C as makes no difference. The miracle of multi-grade engine oil.

As for the limit of what is too thin, well, there are 0w-40s with VW502/505 approval. The guys at VW would know if the oil was too thin for our engines. Obviously, we don't want to use a lubricant as thin as water, but that's obviously not what we're discussing here.

All good info. Touche on the VW approved 0w40. There are a few.

Spray nine degreaser ( most people use simple green), a few sets of brushes, covered the alternator with a plastic bag.

Spray ( I sprayed around the coilpack and harness not openly on top) and Let it soak for a few minutes, brushed around. Rinsed with a hose. I had a lot of oily residues on top of my valve cover / head. Strutt towers cleaned all the way down.

Scrubbed off the remaining gunk, went over most of it with a microfiber damp with more spray nine. In all edges, holes, corners. It removes most of the water on the components.

Went for a spirited drive of around 20 minutes to steam clean/dry.

Came back, turned off the engine and applied an interior detailer of Meguiar for the plastics / trims etc. ( Same product I use inside the car)

Thanks man. I haven't heard of spray nine but I'll look and move to simple green otherwise. Really appreciate the detailed response, my bay is somewhat embarrassing right now.
