Airbag light on after Steering wheel swap . . . HELP

So tonight I decided to swap my OEM steering wheel for a b7 rs4 flat bottom. I followed the DIY step by step the only thing I didn't do was swap out the control module because the RS4 wheel doesn't have multifunction capabilities with a b6 s4 (I am pretty sure but could be wrong). So I go in and try and clear the airbag light but it doesn't go away. The code is 00588-001-upper limit exceeded. Anyone that can help?? I unplugged everything and plugged everything back in but it still doesn't go away. Any help is appreciate!

Hasn't it been established that putting a two stage airbag system into a one stage system is a bad idea?

Pretty sure you need to use the B7 ring

Go for a drive, find an open area then turn the wheel one way and do a 360 degree turn, then do a 360 turn the other way. Light should then disappear.

billq - I will give that a try.

B6JoeS4 - I did replace the ring but not the control module.

Axel and s4buckeye - Yes I know I kept changing my mind for about a year and I finally decided to do the swap (Hopefully that won't be me in the picture) My S4 isn't my daily and I barely even put 5k miles on it a year so I figured chances are if I were to get into an accident it would be my daily. So yes I know I am taking my life into my own hands.

Well everything is plugged into the control module, I would say you need the module. I just did a B8A5 wheel swap into my B6A4 and it worked perfectly, swapped the ring, module, did the coding and worked perfectly first time. Easy Peasy!
