What brakes to get on a budget??
OOOK SO LONG STORY TIME:
WIFE DROPS ME OFF AT WORK AND LIKE MOST OF YOU IF YOU HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE CAR WHILE ITS RUNNING YOU PULL THE E-BRAKE. WHICH I DID KISSED HER GOOD-BYE AND WALKED IN. ONCE I GET INTO WORK SOMEONE WALKS IN AND SAYS MY WIFE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME TAKING OFF IN MY CAR BUT FINALLY GOT IT AFTER STALLING OUT ABOUT 6 OR 7 TIMES..INSTANTLY IT HIT ME.. SHE HAD THE E-BRAKE STILL ON. I CALL HER AND FIND OUT SHE MADE IT ALL THE WAY HOME (10.5 MI) WITH THE E-BRAKE ALL THE WAY ON . NOW THERE IS MUCH GRINDING AND SUCH FROM THE REAR RIGHT BRAKE THE ROTOR HAS GROOVES THAT IM POSETIVE ARE BEYOND SHAVEING.
SO NOW THE MAJOR QUESTION MY ROTORS CURRENTLY ARE DRILLED AND SLOTTED WHICH I LIKE A LOT AND WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIT FOR PADS/ROTORS FOR ME PREFFERABLY LOW DUST AND DEFINATLY ON A BUDGET BUT NO JUNK I HAD SEEN A FEW OPTIONS AROUND LIKE ECS'S NEW GEOMET ROTORS BUT NOT SURE ANY INPUT AND PICS WOULD BE APPRICATED.
THANKS
ANDREW.

Blame the plummeting value of the car. Just have to accept that the car is affordable to a younger and less wealthy demographic. But these new owners have a great resource in those of us who have been around with these things for 8+ years. Aside from a few funny threads like this, i think its positive overall.

I'm preferential to stock rotors for daily duty. and Hawk HPS pads get my vote.

Zimmerman coated rotors are great with stock calipers and akebono ceramic pads.

On a budget? Rockauto.com
Otherwise? Adam's Rotors + Hawk HPS
Also, is anyone else sick of these crotchity old fucks complaining that time passes? Oh no, ITS NOT 2001! MY CAR ISN'T WORTH 40k! THERE ARE PEOPLE UNDER THE AGE OF 35 DRIVING THE SAME CAR AS ME! PLASTIDIP IS THE DEVIL, NOT A COOL NEW PRODUCT OFFERING ON THE MARKET THAT I DON'T HAVE TO SUPPORT!
Man, get with the times, shit changes, the used car purchaser is definitely a different demographic than the new car purchaser. Does this DEVALUE the platform? No, not really. Individuals devalue a car, mass individuals devalue a platform. Is the B5 S4 anywhere near that? No. Do you see parents buying their 16yr olds B5 S4s? Sure, but not in anywhere near the same numbers as civics in 2001 or civics in 2012.
OH NO, THE PLATFORM IS OLD AND PEOPLE ARE BUYING THE CARS AND TUNERS ARE RELEASING INEXPENSIVE (See: not cheap) SINGLE TURBO KITS AND NEW PRODUCTS! INNOVATION SUCKS!

Akebono pads with stock rotors or some Zimmerman. Budget friendly and no frills street performance with very low dust. You're not gaining anything with slotted and cross drilled rotors

This is exactly correct. Dont waste your money on cross drilled or slotted rotors especially from some back yard company that is buying blanks and drilling holes and cutting "cool" looking slots into a rotor with absolutely no engineering background behind it.
Zimmerman rotors or similar and Akebono or PBR or similar pads is your most budget friendly set up. Be sure to bleed the system completely with new fluid.

Over 10 miles I'd be surprised if the rear calipers aren't ruined also. My sister did that to a car once and melted the seals out of the rear brakes and boiled the fluid.

EDIT: This post was supposed to be in all caps. I forgot our forum disabled the "shout" feature.... but how did the OP get away with it?

If you want brakes on for a quick cheap replacement. I'm sure someone on here will say something but I've had at least 4 + sets from ebay and they are fine.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned this, but OP might also want to budget for a new clutch/TQ-converter if the car was drove that long w/ the e-brake on
