    Bumper Quick Release

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

Someone tapped me in a parking lot and didnt leave any information naturally.

Everything got messed up a little bit. Me and a friend tried to get everything back together but it just wouldnt line up the way it used to. One of the brackets just would snap back onto the bumper so i have a solid finger gap on one side.

My friend mentioned that some people utilize some bumper quick releases. Has anyone got any information or examples of such devices?

Audi really fucking dropped the ball with the b5 bumper attachment points so fixing this would be awesome plus it would make the bumper removal about 40x better.

Show me examples, kits, and how people installed please!

The problem is the design of the brackets which sux hence the desire for quick releases.

But only really needed if you plan on taking your bumper off really often. The stock side brackets actually work well because it allows the bumper to be slide forward/back for adjustment.

I might be interested in using 2 of their mini's for the sides of the bumper and 2 of their longer air cleaner latch for the front of the bumper.

They even offer a little bracket to mount the stud.

Yeah, compared to other cars the B5 has a really easy system of holding the bumper in place.

I come from VW. The bumper doesnt have stupid brackets which u have to rip the bumper off of and feel like your breaking things... Its a poor design considering there is actually way more adjustability in the vw design than the A4s and that is before you move the actual brackets themselves...

Im thinking of using some hood pin kind of devices... or those 1/4 turn quick releases!

Well a poor design bumper is still better then having a shitty car. The bumper design is only an issue if you feel the need to take the bumper off all the time and if your doing it that often then there are larger issues at hand and not worth keeping the car.

Been taking my bumper off my 12.5 year old A4 and haven't had any issues with the stock bumper design. With my S4 bumper I just reach in with a long flat head screw driver and pop out the lower tab on both sides.

There is a way to do it that it doesnt look crappy and I plan on doing it as such. Plus having a black car makes it much easier. A little touch up paint and they disappear from over 10ft away.

My bracket on one side just doesnt hold the bumper anymore... so maybe a new bracket... maybe a different attachment method...

Might want to check it, could be that the tab broke off on the bracket that attaches to the fender. If it is that one can be replaced pretty easy.

    Thank you.

I will look into a number of options and the difficulty associated as time goes on.

i think these bumpers come off easy. the first time is a headache, but once you figure out how the system works its cake. i can have my bumper on and off in 3-5 minutes. i have thumb screws for the headlights and i don't but the bumper shock bolts in. no tools required if i need to tear the front end off in an emergency.
