What shocks are u guys using?
I'm getting ready to do some work on the car & figured I could probably use some new shocks. Just wondering what is decent & where to buy. Not looking to do a coil over setup just yet, just replace what I have. Any help is appreciated!

Don't bother unless you are doing coilovers. It's honestly not worth the money or your time.

Not really true, many people are happy with the Bilstein shocks, you'd be surprised to see how many ppl have ran those over the years with some H&R springs.

+1
I'd pick quality shocks + springs over BUDGET coilovers, which are basically shocks with height adjustability. Some probably don't even match the shock valving to spring rate (as seen in SOME a4 and s4 kits, different springs same shocks).
That said, I'm completely happy with my Koni adjustable shocks + Eibach springs. I have both height (front only - cut grooves on shocks) and damping adjustability. Never adjusted damping though (pain in the ass, need to remove front shock to adjust). Don't feel it needed adjusting anyways, going thru dips at speed (120+mph) feels completely solid. Eibach Pro + stock sways feel too soft for track though.

X2 Qft!!! A lot of people just want to set it and forget it or don't track their cars.
It's called the Audi "Piece of Paper". Or is it the Audi "Road through Slough?" Anyway, it's the A4! - Jeremy Clarkson

My car has KYB GR2 excel shocks, which I got for a great deal last year.
KYB + Audi? Sounds weird...?

This is my DD & not a track car, I won't be adjusting anything! Lol
I would like to keep the stock ride height because I do live in Michigan.

Oh I know first hand. It's the setup I have, but the way I read his post was that he was gonna replace his struts with other stock ones. Bilstein/H&R setup is really good.

Nothing special, around 1/2" lower in the front compared to standard shocks + Eibach Pro. I wanted to remove some of the reverse rake, currently sits just about level.

If you want to lower a bit you get get some H&R sport springs with bilstein sport shocks, you definitely won't be disappointed. I have those shocks with race springs and even then it's more than fine for daily driving on the broken roads here, the ride is stiff but nor harsh or bouncy at all, and unlike budget coilovers I don't ever bottom out no matter how bad the road is.

I'm currently running used Apex springs/stock shocks up front and stock creakyasballs suspension in the back. I don't recommend my setup.

I'm running Bilstein with H&R sport. Coming from 4x4, its a huge step in the right direction. I'm very happy with the way it drove. I'm looking forward to see if it rocks with a 330+++whp setup pushing on it. I'm ready to go with CO's for the track & 1/4 mile.
