Thanks Dre. Im sold on doing a 4-door 'vert now. I didnt realize they made 4 door continental convertibles, I assumed they were 2-door.
I might have to do suicide doors...
Its happening, spring 2013

Drool at that first one you posted.
4 door verts are only an American car thing as far as I'm aware, as it's only "easy" with a frame car. Unibody would be a nightmare.

Yeah uni body would flex like a noodle with 4 doors and no roof.
This shits totally happening, thanks for sharing that the continental had 4door convertible. I think my cars body style is similar enough I should be able to pull it off and not feel like I just ruined the car... And, of course, the plan is to lay it low, even if it's just copped springs at first.

So are you going to add a soft top or just leave it open all the time?
I love the idea of cutting the top off. It will look awesome.

Open top all the time. I'd want to get a tonneau cover just so the interior wouldn't get fucked from rain/snow/dirt. But not a real convertible top .

If you're already doing a bunch of metalwork, make a removable hardtop. Then you can at least drive it in the rain. Removing a roof that size sounds like a 2 person job, though.

Yeah, I was thinking about that at work today, but its really big(have to find somewhere to store it), and heavy. I think just doing like a boat tonneau cover like this could work

Go Ferrari 575 Superamerica style. Put a hinge at the back so you can flip the whole roof backwards so it sits upside down and backwards on the trunk. But when it's in the "open" position, the A pillars become tail fins and the sun visor area (front, underside of the roof) becomes a trunk spoiler. That's probably easier said than done, because it wasn't that easily said.

Now that I think about it, this would be a really tough thing to pull off.
So scratch that.

Update: While the Audi is D&O for a bit, compiling parts to replace stuck closed t-stat and do 6-speed tranny swap, Ill be cruising the Poncho.
I saw a good deal on Advanced Auto Parts and am getting an Edelbrock 4 barrel 600cfm carb and Edelbrock air cleaner for $275 that ill pick up at the store tomorrow. Pretty good deal imo! Im also going to do new plugs and plug wires since I never got around to replacing them since Ive bought the car(sin, I know, considering the car had been parked for 4 years at the time I bought it). So those are my projects for tomorrow.
Im hoping the car will really liven up with this refresh. I need to put new gas in too. The gas in there has been sitting for a few months LOL. I think Ill be good and put premium in to try and cancel out the crap gas in the tank at the moment. (Really, I should be running premium all the time in this car since it was designed for leaded gas).
stay tuned for updates, friends.

:(
Saturday project day fail.
Went to install the new carb, got the old 2bbl off and the flange on the intake manifold is no where near the same. No chance of it bolting up at all. I guess no fun-goodies for the car today. I guess Ill have to return them in a couple hours when I go to pick up the new plugs and wires(they had to order them in from the warehouse)
I am dissapoint. Oh well probably better the money stays in my account anyways.

2pm update: returned the carb and air filter got the new plugs and wires in, sounds a bit smoother, im sure the engine is much happier now. Beautiful day to be outside wrenching, too. About 60* and sunny!
However, replacing the plugs might have actually been more difficult than doing so on the 2.7 despite the massive amount of space in the bay. drivers side was cake, but the AC compressor and heater core was right in the way for all of the passenger side plugs, made for some tough angles, luckily i have a flex-head ratchet or else i might not have been able to get at some of them.
I can smell the angry neighbors already. Working on my car in the parking lot AND its super loud haha.
