its an absolute nightmare keeping my brilliant black clean. it only looks good for +6 hours after a good wash and wax. fahgettaboud just going through a car wash.. unless you want massive circlular scratches

Cambridge Green is even rarer than Imola yellow.. If you're going for something special this could be it ;)

Yes, there was a revision in 2005, but there have been newer revisions after that. Iirc the last revision was some time in 07 production year
A few mods here and there

So is 71k miles too high to be considering for purchase at this point? The last sale that fell through was at 51k miles.
Should I be turned off or concerned by that mileage?

No. Mileage is not important with these cars, its how it was taken care of. Maintenance records should influence your purchase more than mileage.

I bought my B7 with 60k on it in December i now have 76k on it and it runs better now. Just take care of it and make sure you know the maintenance records (oil changes every 5k, etc...)

Just make sure you read this thread. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...42#post7782442
I just traded mine in with 76k on the meter. Couldn't sleep at night. Now I can. Absolutely loved the car but just can't afford the possibility of timing failure or cam issues happening. Good luck in your search.

Willing to travel for a good find? I have an 05.5 brilliant black 6 speed... while it does have high miles @ 109k, it has all maintenance up to date. About 2k miles on a stg 3 jhm clutch with lightweight flywheel along with timing chain service, new hoses, new water pump and much more. Has all boltons and jhm tune (minus headers), rs4 rear sway, 034 street density motor mounts just to highlight some..I'm on the fence about selling, esp since i just dropped about 8k on timing chain/maintenance items.. send me a PM if interested. All maintenance work performed @ JHM
And FYI, i had 0 issues up until about 106k when noises started coming from the front end due to timing chain service. Be very cautions when jumping into a higher mileage S4 that does not have the timing chain replaced..

I'm closer to mlittleton - I've had my B6 S4 for 8months and 3Kmiles and already I've put $500 into a new 'comfort control module', and $500 labor and repair to tighten up a loose steering rack, and now another $600 for repair on a front axle, don't ever let me imply that I don't love my car, but if this trend continues then it doesn't make any sense for me to own this, it was stored eight WI winters and has only 51K miles on it, it appears to be near perfect but I'll be damned if I can't find any peace of mind driving this thing lately....if I don't get into a better place with it I'll have to sell it too out of lack of trust, I've got dealership maintenance records and the two previous owners are unlikely candidates to have beaten the car....whatever you end up buying I just wish you all the peace of mind that comes with buying and falling in love with a 'new' car, the B7 is probably vastly improved over my 2004, ....this might be the wrong car for me right now....I just cannot seem to get this damn thing running right long enough for it to be out of the repair shop so I can get some hot laps in at Road America during a big race weekend, every damn big weekend so far my car has been out of commission....so why do I still love it?

^^^ Strange
my 2005 had (3) previous owners. My car has never experienced a problem, and does not burn oil even with my driving style (5-6k every gear)
Some are just bullet proof, some come off the showroom floor with problems...

How many miles do you have? Again I had minor issues and no signs of any issues with the tensioner until I hit about 106k.. I thought mine was a bullet proof one too :( It sure is now though, or i'd say at least good for another 100k

I am at 51,000 miles.... I maybe put 5,000 miles a year on my car. But by the time it hits 60,000 I have a feeling I will have it up for sale... I am dead set on an RS4....

Boy, I didn't know so many people were looking for B7 S4s on here. I had mine forsale for just a little over a month and sold it yesterday. I didn't use the classifieds here because it didn't look like much action there. Mine was immaculate and I would have loved to sell to somebody here.
