Search for a B7 continues...
So after 2 deals now falling through (for varying reasons), I'm now eyeing a new one.
My only concern is the mileage. Was hoping to stay below 70k miles, though this one has just one owner....and has the exact interior features i'm looking for.
What does the forum think? Hold out for lower mileage?
Also, what's a fair offer here?
Thank you!

IMO it's a good car and the price isn't that bad. Actually that's low mileage for a 2005. However it's a first year B7 and may be more prone to the chain guide failure.

but being that its listed by an audi dealer is comforting. looks clean though
Fahrvergnügen: That German term means "driving enjoyment" in English (from fahren, "to drive," and Vergnügen, "enjoyment").

It's some sort of dark green too....thought it was black actually. Prefer black.
Is that green rare?

Way overpriced, not to mention it's a B6 in a B7s body.
There're still plenty 2005s with under 60kmiles. Wait for the lower miles and better price tag along with it.
I'm hunting for one myself, almost got one recently untill someone snatched a day before. :(
Be prepared to pay reasonable premium for the right one though, cause clean n low miles sell quick.

It took me many months to find mine; a black 07 with only 38K miles. I'm in the bay area, but it was getting to a place where I was considering one in portland, and one in colorado. Then on my birthday there was one posted on craigslist, 5 blocks from my house. I took it as a sign. And, roughly 3 weeks later, I couldn't be happier.

How do you figure? Source?

That's overpriced. I got my 2006 fully loaded with 68k miles on it, great shape for just a hair over 20k at Audi of Coral Gables, FL. Keep looking or talk them down on that price a few thousand at least. This car should definitely be under 20k.

I just detail washed mine.
It's waiting for you ;)

FWIW, I got mine for 24K. Not sure if that's a good deal, but it was less than my ceiling so I was happy.

How many miles?

By the way, is Cambridge Green Pearl a rare/desireable color for the S?

I see your in Maryland and the car your looking at is local to me. If you are serious about the car and need someone to check out the car and you don't want to fly up to CT, don't hesitate to ask. I have a great camera too so if you wanted detailed pics thats something I can do too.
To be honest, I don't think the car is overpriced at all. I just paid 21.5k for an 06 with 74k on the clock. S4's seem to command a premium in the north east in regards to elsewhere in the US.
AS far as the color goes, I haven't seen any S4's in that color. I personally like it, although some may not.

Personally never even heard of cambridge green pearl, but it looks nice! IMO this car is over priced for an 05.5. FWIW 05.5's usually retail for the same price as any other B6's. With that said between the mileage and the price on this particular car I don't think its worth it unless you really want this color. Keep in mind that with an 05.5 you're getting the B7 body style but not the 4:1 diff, and from what I understand 06+ motors have a newer revision of timing components.

S4 retail values in FL are for some reason much lower than the rest of the country. You'd be hard pressed up here to get an 06 for that price. He's right .. S4s aren't cheap in the NE

Isn't it MY07+ that has the 4:1 diff? I'm not positive my 06 B7 has the better diff.

Agreed, I got my S4 from JAX, and it was about $1000+ less than cars in my area, and nearly $2k less than cars north of VA/MD. Totally worth the 60$ train ticket and the tank of gas on the way back!
Guess its that "Quattro premium" you snow people pay.
Also worth noting that car has most all options; alcantara, RNS-e, non-wood trim, and what I can only assume was a custom paint color. Don't see sunshades, but perhaps B7s don't get those, as I rarely see them in ANY S4.

From JHM's website:
"0A3 - 6-speed = B6 S4 (all) and some 05.5 B7 S4s (note: we have seen some 05.5s with the T3 diff which is already a 4:1 and does look different than the one in the picture above. If you have that diff there is no need to send it in for modification) "

I thought I had read somewhere that all B7's 05.5 and up all got improved timing components?
Either way, mine has 74k and it starts with no hesitation and 0 hint on chain rattle. I am confident that she will be fine for a while.

What's up with that color? Is that a OEM paint color?
Should I hop on this car? What would you offer?
Has every feature I want, except not being black paint.

I am not sure about the color at all, never seen that before and I was searching for my B7 for a while. I personally think that it is beautiful color and super rare, sets it apart! It almost looks black much of the time too.
I would tell them that you a VERY interested and it is the exact car that you are looking for but you will not make a purchase without a compression test done. If it was me, if that came out good I would start offering at $20k and deal from there. But just make sure to set a price in your head that you are not willing to go over and be prepared to walk away if you need to. Even at 21k I think that is a decent price.
I got a killer deal on my 05.5 a month ago. Came from MI, mine had 73k on it and I got it for $17.5k. Granted it has a few little problems with it, that I knew going into it I would have to fix. Also it is a Tip, which maybe won't command as much of a premium. But it has every single option you can get on the car, except alcantara, which I was honestly fine with because it wears pretty easily.
No one can really make this decision for you dude. You gotta know what its worth to you. The market on these is so wildly different all over the country. We can only tell you if the price is totally out of whack, and I don't think this one is.

Depends, fully loaded cars such as the one you linked sell quick, especially if the PPI comes back clean.
In reality, i think the green sets it apart from other S4's, and the only time you are going to really notice its green is during the daytime.
When buying used cars, you always have to give up one or two things you absolutely want, unless you want to be looking for years.
I would start around 19.5k pending PPI/leakdown and work from there

Well said guys....so in other words you would not let the green be a drawback (I just want to make sure it's OEM)?
Mileage isn't too high? The one owner is big plus for me!

Yeah it is, check out the link Bahnstormer posted.
That post does jog my memory that I HAVE run across a 2004 that came in Cambridge Green. Very sharp color.

Oops, I misread the link.
So this is a disreable color in other words? I've never seen it to be honest.

It's desirable if you like it. Who cares if other people find it desirable? I think it's a cool looking color, and not one I've seen on an S before. But a simple google search shows plenty of other cars with it - it was likely an Audi Exclusive color.

Between black or the green which would you pick?

Personally I like the green. It's different, yet subtle. Not that I doubt this would be much different because it's so dark, but black cars are a pain in the ass to keep looking good. They show dirt and scratches like nobody's business, and IMO only look good when clean. Again, you'll likely have those issues with the green too, but it's a trade-off for having a rare & unique color. Black is neither rare nor unique
