My 2001 Allroad coolant leak-HELP ME!

Well, it seems like one issue after another at the moment. My wife drove the car on a really hot day. When she got home I noticed some liquid on the garage floor. It was coolant. Popped open the hood and the coolant level was down. At first I thought it was a bad hose near the coolant reservoir but the more I looked at it seems like it’s coming from this area (in and around the hoses underneath this component- See URL for pic). What is this component and does anybody have any good diy. Will I need to remove the front end to do this?

Again, any help would be awesome

    Thanks

Can you post the picture here? I'm not on audiworld and can't see it. I had a similar problem recently with my 2000 S4. The inner housing of the coolant reservoir was cracked, but not the outer, so the original symptom was coolant leaving out of the overflow hose at the bottom of the tank. Took me a day or two to find it and realize that the coolant tank was cracked and that was the problem.

I picked up a replacement reservoir tank at O'Reilly's for around $40 if I remember right. Might be worth a shot, but since I can't see the pic, I'm not sure if this is what you are experiencing or not.

    Hope this helps!

it looks like it is your secondary coolant pump which is located on the top of the engine, pain in azz to replace it, top needs to be taken down to get access to it
