2013 A4 non-nav, 2g/3g/MMI ....confused! (want a2dp)
I am a proud new owner of a 2013 A4. Like a ton of other posters I am annoyed I don't have a2dp bluetooth music capabilities.
I have found this http://www.audi-collection.com/Vehic...treaming-Audio, but cannot determine if it would work with my vehicle! Looks like there's a pain in the ass workaround to make it work on 3g MMI systems, but I just want to know which I have to do :)
I have do NOT have navigation in my car 2013 A4, can I assume I have 2g MMI?
I do have AMI in my glovebox with the ipod connector.
Thanks,

not sure about the rest but i think you have the 3G MMI, even on the non navs i believe from like MY2011 and on it was 3G, but i dont see why the 2013s wouldn't come with 3G

Yea you have to watch Audi they ala carte all the options. I have a 2012 i just got s month ago and I almost left with a car with the style package instead. The salesman apologized and redid my paperwork giving me the convenience package. If you want something be sure to let them know. Otherwise if I was you I'd take it back.

That's what it looks like from what I've found as well, but it's not the answer I want :P And I wanted a way to be sure before I buy one

Thanks, but that's not really what I was asking. I knew I wasn't getting a2dp in my car...it was another 3k because you need the nav system
I've found 2 solutions to getting bluetooth music in my car, one for MMI 2g and one for MM 3g. I'm just trying to determine which one my car has

Completely incorrect.
If you do not have nav, you do not have MMI at all. The non nav system is just a glorified radio with a large screen.
2009 cars with nav had 2G MMI. 2010-2012 cars with nav had 3G MMI. 2013 cars with nav have the new MMI system. No nav means no MMI from 2009-2013.
That dongle only works with 2G MMI, so it will not work with your car.

ah i see, sorry i was mistaken i just thought that system, nav or not, was the MMI

Well that sucks. Do the custom jobbie ones still work though? Since my car has AMI

All kinds of bad news here! Anyone know of a way to get bluetooth music then through my glorified radio?

Theoretically yes, but it will involve a complicated setup.
A combination like this may work:
3.5mm audi connector for you MMI - be careful, there are separate cables for MMI (nav) and non mmi (no nav) systems
Bluetooth audio receiver (powered by USB) such as this one http://www.amazon.com/Miccus-BluBrid...pr_product_top
Mini USB car charger

Problem SOLVED!
Went down to the dealership to buy the audi dongle mentioned in the first post, figured it'd just take a few minutes to see if it worked before I delved into other options
Well...lo and behold, it works perfectly!! Took about 5 seconds to setup, and now I'm a bluetooth streaming monster

Wow! Thanks for the update. I just got a 2013 A4 too and was scratching my head about bluetooth audio. I am glad this solution works.
So please tell me if this assumption is correct.
Even though the Audi collection website says it works only with MMI 2g you are saying that it works with you 2013 A4 (non-NAV) which is supposed to be non-MMI?

OP, thank you very much for doing this! I ordered mine after seeing this post. I also have a 2013 A4 Premium plus, it has the Bluetooth phone but no audio. I ordered the part & installed it a few minutes ago. It works like a charm, even though the website does not say it supports our vehicle.
thanks again!

Exact-a-mundo!
For anyone curious if this will work for their car...just go to a dealership and buy one! If it doesn't work you can return it straight away, no risk in trying :)
It's not as...smooth, as you would expect from Audi. Sometimes I lose connection and have to reconnect bluetooth, or unplug and plug back in the adapter. But all in all I'm very happy with it

Well that is good to hear. Thanks for the confirmation both nitrox and goose!
But returning the device if it does not work might not be so easy. I live in Arizona and no dealership in Arizona has this part in inventory and say they cannot order it because it is now an obsolete part. So I called the nearest guys who have it (San Diego!) and they told me I could buy it from them but they WILL NOT accept it back if it does not work. It seems this no return policy applies to all electronics.
But atleast now I can be sure that it will work with my car...

I ran into same issue. Dealers in town said they dont even offer the part. I ended up ordering from www.audipartssuperstore.com for $190 shipped. Still waiting for it to arrive. Hopefully it works.

Just installed mine. Part number (4F0051510J). Works flawlessly on my 2012 a4 non-nav, the sound is fantastic.

I'm having the same trouble getting this part. The dealers say this part is discontinued. I'll try the website you linked. Can you change tracks with it or do you have to do it on your device?

I have the kit... As long as you have the Audi Music Interface (AMI) and a 2G MMI, it'll work. Check my sig if you're interested, I'm selling mine... I'm looking at doing a full 3G+ retrofit.
***Update, kit has been sold***

And just to clarify....
As has been said in this thread, generally if you don't have NAV you don't have MMI.
The actual difference is that your car has MMI if the audio controls are mounted flat on the console, aft of the transmission shifter.
On the other hand, if your audio controls are in the upright section above the climate controls and below the centre air vents, you have a "non-MMI" car.
The "correct" Audi name for this is the "infotainment system", and will be labelled just above the cd slot as either Audi concert (radio with single CD) or Audi symphony (radio with 6 CD stacker).
Now I am not as familiar as I should be with the 2013 cars - clearly if you have ordered the nav you have a "new generation MMI". This is clearly a significant upgrade on the previous 3G MMI. On the other hand if you don't have this and have the concert or symphony, can anyone confirm that this is exactly the same as the 2012 and earlier cars, or is this somehow new and different too for 2013?
cheers,
..Neil

I have 2013 without nav & like you said Audi Concert or Symphony, can't remember at this moment, and the bluetooth A2DP adapter sold at the dealer worked flawlessly in my car.
hope that clears it up.

Also my dealership did not carry or want to special order the part, so I searched & found Tom Williams Audi had them in stock.

For those of you who have successfully installed the Audi Bluetooth dongle for the AMI only system, can you please describe the functionality? Does the system function similar to when my phone is plugged in? Do songs and playlists still load on the screen? Any details would be great before I go out and buy one of these things.
Thanks

Wow, this is looking bleak. All SD dealerships are permanently out of stock of the dongle.

I can't find the 4F0051510J part anywhere on the net. Does anyone know why this ( http://www.audia2dp.com/index.html ) doesn't work with 2g AMI?
I have non-nav basic radio 2g on my 2013 S4 and I want something to wirelessly pass music into my glove-box where the AMI cable sits. At the same time though, I don't want to have to worry about charging anything so I want to use the AMI cable to give power too.
Why the hell didn't Audi just put a 3.5mm jack in the center console?

This is nuts, guys. So I pass by an Audi dealership in LA on Friday night to pick up some items and randomly ask (rhetorically, almost) if they had the 4F0051510J BT kit. "No" was the quick answer....but then "hang on..." turned into a quick phone. Revealed; one BT kit was ordered and abandoned by a customer in Canada (wtf?). Long story short, Audi Vancouver transferred it, I bought it and I just installed it. Major, major luck out. :)

I just returned mine from Carousel Audi Iowa City. Didn't like the fact that I couldnt' see the track info. Sound quality was great though. Paid $215 + tax for it. If someone is looking for one, I would call them up.

Thanks hanyoung! I ordered the last part they had from Carousel Audi. It arrived and works as intended. Unfortunately for everyone else I think I got the last one in the continental US.

My SO has been the happy owner of a 2013 A3 since August but is disappointed by the lack of A2DP support in her car.
I'm considering remedying this situation over XMas but I'm not 100% sure I'm getting the right part and even less sure about what the installation procedure would be...
The local dealership is clueless. The place she got her car from (supposedly one of the last off of the assembly line) is not answering my emails...
She doesn't have the Nav system, and Concert is mentioned on her CD player so this 4F0051510J accessory looks correct, right?
How do you hook up the accessory to the stereo though?
I don't see a connector in the glove box? Was that an option?
There appears to be room for a CD changer in the trunk but can't see a connector...
Will I have to pull the stereo out? How straightforward is that?
Do I connect the part directly to the stereo, or do I need a harness of some kind?
Thx in advance...

Does anyone have an alternate solution to this or know of where I might find one, just got a 2013 A4 prem + (non-nav) for xmas and would like less wire clutter in the cabin

Not to dig up an old thread... but I have a 2013 allroad (B8.5 A4 platform) and just read over the window sticker. It lists my system like this:
"Audi MMI Concert Radio w/o Nav"
There is a the MMI (radio without Nav) and MMI w/Navigation Plus.
Becasue... even the basic system in the 2013's control radio, cd, AMI and phone. Multi-media stuff.
