    Dynomax VT review

Hey guys I've seen a few threads about the Dynomax Vt muffler and the reviews seem a little mixed. After 3-4 days (3-4 hours at a time) of fabricating my own 3 inch exhaust in my driveway I finally got to test out the muffler. It was pretty much stock quiet at idle and a bit louder during cruise. I have a high flow cat and 24 inch resonator, which I think helped quite a bit. I went with a single exhaust instead of the dual. I'm not a big fan of loud exhaust noise, so this muffler is a perfect choice for those that know what I'm talking about. I weighed the whole exhaust and it came out to be roughly 35-40lbs, which is probably a 20-25lb weight saving there.

I have been using one for nearly a year now. Im using the 17157 version ie 3 inch - up to 4L spec.

Whilst they are a quieter at idle and cruising speed that most if not all straight through mufflers, that rattle is SOOO damn annoying. Im referring to the internal valve rattling inside the muffler.

At WOT it sounds nice IMO...but when you're cruising and let go of the gas pedal, euww...rattle and ricer exhaust note. I dunno what to with my setup to be honest. I might go with the stiffer springs ie 17957 model and see how it goes. I was told it may cause turbo lag. I wouldnt know until I test one I suppose.

I can do that but I think pointless cause I run a screamer pipe and low boost ATM. lol. I raced against a Peugeot 206 turbo(reflashed, exhaust) and he said he couldn't hear his engine when he was next to me lol

Jeff Lee runs this babies too. To be honest, at cruising speed they're very quiet for a straight through muffler. My setup is 2.5inch psi downpipe, 3inch mandrel bent - resonator(can't remember how long) - dynomax VT.

I reckon a mid muffler will keep the noise down further.

Also, good to know you're running a custom tune. They're shitloads better than most, if not all on the shelf stuff.
