Odd 3.0 Observations

While I was out earlier working on dismantling part of my 3.0, I noticed it looks like the head is 3 parts, the head itself, a piece that holds down the cams, then the valve cover. Im doing valve cover changes, but is there a gasket that goes in between the head and the part that holds the cams down? It kind of looks as mine has been leaking from both areas. The oil pan, look like it is 2 pieces, which is throwing me off. The water pump, is it just the external electric one on the driver side, or is there an internal one as well? I remember reading on the 2.7's they have one under the intake I believe it was.

they have a timing belt driven 1 and the cars for hotter climates also have an electric auxillary 1 on the left side

I replace the camshaft on mine and the part the holds the cams in place needs rtv or it will leak oil. I learn that the hard way i had a lot of oil all over the o2 sensors.

I have pulled apart a 3.0 and can tell you that there is no gasket between the head and the part that holds down the cams
