Where's the love?
So I was on my way to work and a nice looking S4 slowly passes me on the freeway. I turn to give the other driver a nod but he looks straight ahead and pays me no attention....um ok.

I feel the same way, I see lots of S4s and never get the nod. When I had my STI, anybody with a subaru would give wave or honk, even if it were a beat down 99' legacy wagon... haha

I would say most b8 s4 owners drive the car not for what it truly is, the heritage or anything like that. They drive it because it is a good size, looks good, isn't run of the mill like a 335 or some other reason. All on this forum (b8 s4) I'd verge to guess they would wave, flash or nod. Or the people are driving someone else's car, ie husband or wifes or something. With the b5 S4 most people in b6, b7 and b8 that notice will do something.
On a side note, I pulled against a b8 (with a very attractive 40+ year old lady) and a c5 cortvette on the freeway, not really racing just driving our cars like they should be. Any way she didn't notice my car till I passed her a few times, I'm assuming she saw the badge at this point (the 10 or so time we passed each other) or heard the exhaust she pulled next to me waved and smiled, then punched it, I followed lol she got onto a different freeway along with the vett.

I'd acknowledge you if I saw you on the road, but then you'd wonder why some weirdo sporting a silver 2003 Malibu LS was giving you a thumbs up.

Not in the civic! I've found it very difficult to drive since I picked up the S4!
So far I've had plenty of Audi owners acknowledge me and I have done the same! Maybe he didn't see me!

3 weeks, I thought you were getting it sooner?
I have yet to see an S4 in the last few months in Central Jersey! Lots of A4s though.. It's bitter sweet. Bitter because it would be nice to have some other enthusiasts around me, sweet because, well, it will make me feel more special when I start driving my S4 when it comes in the week of July 16

It's 50/50 for me. Lately I see a lot of older ladies and guys who drive the b8 and they snub me when I throw up a thumb. Hate that, prob don't realize what they are they or I, are driving
Lots of times I'm in the Q and give the thumbs and always wish I were in the S

You got me. The dealer is telling me the week of July 9th. They also tell me they have no idea what day of the week the car will show up. There is apparently no detailed tracking and no method to the madness. So, I have somewhere between 13 and 17 days to go (assuming it's not late). I'm telling myself 3 weeks so I don't go insane.

I see them here and there, but not too often. I did see a B5 yesterday and a B8 this morning though.

The B8 is still basically the latest model, since the B8.5 is a refresh. A lot of people that buy or lease the S4 aren't specifically Audi or S4 enthusiasts. They just like a newer german sports/luxury sedan and have the money to buy it. I'm sure a bunch cross shopped the C350 and 335i but found the S4 to be a nicer car for the money. The S4 is also the nicest car in its class and has received a lot of good press which draws in people who are new to the brand/model.

Maybe I'm ugly or something....Went to get gas today and pulled up next to an A4 S-line. The guy sees me and turns and stares at the building. So I say nice car. He turns and looks and says the same before turning around again.....um ok
A week prior I'm at the same gas station this time behind a Q5 curtousy car from my same dealer. The "older" guy looks at me and snubs me like i'm some kinda freak! Um ok... I think I'll get gas somewhere else from now on.
Oh and did I mention...... Since Ive had the S4, Ive been flipped off, called an asshole and yelled at by an old lady! Never has happened to me all the years of driving!

See mine is coming in the next week and I am saying 3 weeks... I have a feeling that if it doesn't show up early in the week I might literally lose my mind - so good call with telling yourself it will arrive later in the week rather than earlier, my optimism may drive me mad.

How old are you? I find that older guys sometimes find it hard to accept younger guys driving around in cars as nice as them..

Hmm are you sure this doesn't have to do with how you may have been driving the S4??

I'm 39 and ok the guy who called me an asshole might have had good reason. I was on a test drive and at a red light next to a BMW. I was just checking to see if the S4 was quicker. There was this guy on a bicycle nowhere close to me and he yelled as I was making a u turn.
I was driving the speed limit down ECR and some guy at the bus stop gives me the finger for no apparent reason.
But mostly I drive like an old lady during periods of traffic.

People actually acknowledge other people with the same make and/or model car as them? I've never encountered that and always assumed it was some kind of urban myth.

All the freaking time. People honk, wave, give me a thumbs up, cuss me out, even throw shit at my car. It's a freaking zoo out there.

Oh man it's so not a myth. I've had a Toyota FJ for about 4 years now that I use for bad weather, towing, beach runs, etc. and almost every other FJ that I run into on the road gives me a wave or something. I think it's because the truck is pretty unique/different looking. Our B8's tend to blend in to the crowd for the untrained eye, and only the real connoisseurs are going to notice each other. But that's a good thing.
On my old Ducati I get a wave from every other rider I pass (except for Harley riders that is - they never even blink)

Its not a myth, but it only occurs when you own certain cars that are unique and less mainstream.
Corvette owners have historically acknowledged each other. Jeep Wrangler owners do too, I owned one for years and everyone waved. WRX/STI owners often do as well. All these cars are unique and require a special owner, basically one that knows they want that specific car. A lot of modded VW/Audi owners wave, but only to other modded cars, and that's mainly the VAG enthusiast factor.
If you own a stock(ish) Audi, you can't expect everyone with an Audi to wave.
