I am planning on getting one of my rear bearings changed, how do you determine which is the culript without jacking the car? When I swerve or turn right it makes a sound.

My friend who is a mechanic plans to help me out, he has worked on a little of everything but he knows hondas inside and out but has had a mk4 jetta back in the day.

He didn't have time to look tonight but are the rear bearings pressed or bolted in?

    thanks guys

is this the bolt? - http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/8A0501387C/ES249003/

I'll probably just buy two just in case.. the car is a 99.5 in connecticut so who knows if it'll come out or not.

My buddy has a hydralic press, pretty much everything imaginable he just doesn't work on european cars as much as he does jdm. (its his hobby not job but he has 2 civics, a crx and right hand drive integra). He says replacing the two rears should be no problem i just wanna make sure he has no headaches helping me out since he usually doesn't work on these.

I had to do the rear bearings twice in my 96, first set was a cheap set, the second not so much! Be as gentle as possible with the new bearings when pressing them in, use a dab of light oil on the bearings and spindles and make sure they're lined up when pressing in, if you have to force them in something's wrong! Also I recomend replacing both bearings because your likley to need an alingment after so why do that twice?

Theres a shop in the Bronx on Webster right off Bronx River Parkway called Atlas Auto 718-654-2151
They are very good with Audis and do a lot of bearings.
Its $160 includes OE Dealer bearing and labor comes with a 1yr warranty.
They do all my friends and my Audis.

It can be a PITA to do it yourself (Ive done a couple not worth it. Never Again!)

We have Eccentric bolt kits which are a good idea to pick up if yours are rusted. Makes wheel bearing jobs that much easier!
