DSG into a Quattro B7 wagon?

I bought my B7 Avant 4 months ago, and I love it. The only thing I would LOVE to change it the Tiptronic transmission. Now my question is: Would it be possible to retrofit a DSG from the B8 generation in the B7, or does this only exist in the realm of imagination? Aside from electronics, how different are the dimensions on the two transmissions?

Very different. All the steering, axle placement, Internal front driveshaft placement are very different. B8 chassis was re-designed to accommodate all of these changes. It would be cheaper to sell the b7 and import a Euro B8 Avant with S-tonic.

If you want to swap it just swap a 6mt. Cheaper and easier. Or trade it for a 6mt avant.

Not really. I don't know if the B7 uses the same trans, but I know you can get a 01e for about $1000-$1200, maybe better if you shop around/have connections. But that's just the trans. Doesn't include all the little stuff you need, plus labor & whatever coding is needed. In most cases it would probably be more economical to sell your car & buy a 6MT equivalent - but that's not always the case. Or if the car has sentimental value & you want to be buried it in, etc. Besides, you know you want an avant anyways.

Easy to do with that weak point in your drivetrain.
