New tires before the wedding - need input ASAP
So.. I'm getting married in 2 weeks. That being said, Aaron needs new tires for his 19" summer wheels and am looking to pull the trigger on those BEFORE bank accounts are joined :)
I've kind of been leaning towards these two:
Michelen Pilot Super Sport
Bridgestone Potenze RE760 Sport
the Bridgestone's are substantially cheaper than the Michelen's, but am noticing that both give a LOAD INDEx of XL, but a numerical rating of 91W.
for track days I swap to r-compound 17" wheels/tires, but for regular summer driving, I rock 19" wheels with summer tires. That being said, if I show to a track day and it is pouring, I would probably just run the 19" wheel setup, so whatever tires I get need to be solid on dry AND wet roads.
Thoughts or other input on tire advice?

I'd say go for the Super Sports. I've run them and they were by far the best street tire I have had on my car.
TireRack also gives the Super Sports a higher rating in wet conditions.

The Bridgestone most comparable to the Michelin SS is the Potenza S04 Pole Position. At the limit of the car's capabilities, either would feel closer to the R compound tire vs. the RE760.... That tire was introduced to be more durable than the others by giving up a little grip (at the limit of the car), so for a "normal" daily driver there would not be a noticable difference.

ok, good post and thank you for the info. That being said, all 3 tires list load ratings as 91Y... says Audi A4 requires 93. Is this a BIG deal or.... negligeable?!

I have been looking at those tires as well. Hard to believe all the good reviews they get for how cheap they are.

Haha, just saw this thread, Aaron! I haven't used the V12s, but many on the B8 forum love them, and at a good price, too!
Good luck with the wedding if it hasn't happened yet, and see you on the track, soon!

I was looking at a few different Bridgestone Pole Position models as well as the Michelen PSS, but the PSS's were just so pricey and the Bridgestone's were definately what I was going to buy, but like posted above, the V12's just get such a good review and the price is nice. Hankook also offers $80 back, so that brings my purchase into the $600's, which is more acceptable.
Maybe I will get some PSS's or RE-11's one day, but until then I think these V12's will do nicely. Havent had a chance to install yet, but shortly. Anyone want some 235/35/19 Nitto Inov's with some decent tread left? I'm dismounting these shortly.
Also Allen, I did get married 06-10-12. What a perfect day it was :) Thanks for the congrats!
