I wouldn't do it. Bare minimum would be the H&R/Koni combo.

THIS
at the end of the day you get what you pay for. ST's are a great way of spending your money right. I personally love my bc racing coils. Cheap but hey got to pick my own spring rates/spring sizes/shock sizes and you can even get them re- valved for free if your spring rates are aggressive. I have the only set for a b6/7 s4 that i know of but im very happy with the over all quality over the product and would have gladly paid double what i paid for them again anyday of the week. When it comes down to suspension Id rather spend a little more and be happy then spend a little less and be unhappy about my set up.
just my 2 cents

Also agree with this, but only because of the price of the V-maxx. If you want to try out a cheaper coil, do something less expensive so if you have problems you're not down as much cash.
It is definitely true that with most of the parts for these cars you get what you pay for, but at the same time there is some parts that may not be as nice as others, but will do the trick. With that being said, I think it's crazy to go out and blow 2g+ on a set of KW V3's, PSS9's, ect for a car that is a DD or never tracked/raced/show car. I've had Vogtlands for a couple years and for $800 shipped they hold up just as well as coils that are 2-3x as expensive. Maybe not as comfortable, but still work great. Just personal experience.
If you have the money it's definitely nice to have a higher quality setup. But if you're ballin' on a budget like me, ST's and Vogtlands are the way to go.

Vmaxx ... Don't do it. Not on this car.
I don't plan on tracking my car, but I will be changing over to Bilstein PSS9s soon because I can't stand the squishiness of my FK HighSports anymore. They lowered the car, and got the job done for appearances, but I still can't take turns as fast as I expect I should in a car like this. I have close to 20k miles on the FKs, so at least I got some use out of them. From what I hear, the Vmaxx coils are just as soft, if not softer than the FKs. For as low as I want/need to go, I need my suspension to be firmer, not softer.

Vmaxx coilovers sucked on my MKIV GLI, don't try these on your S4. STs can be had for as low as $750 shipped and they are basically KW V1s so they are quality.

so cheap, that is a downgrade from the stock suspension. Have you ever looked at the stock setup? They are actually nice components, anything less that H&R coils is a downgrade imo. You're handling will be less responsive, and you're ride will be less comfortable. I opted for Stasis Ohlins SL and they are incredible, but very expensive. They are firm, yet luxurious feeling due to the digressive valving, and the spring rates make the handling feel much better than stock.
If all you care about is looks, get the H&R springs and koni shock setup, or spring for the H&R coils.

Didn't know that KW were available for the B6S4 in anything but the V3 versions. Are these something new ?

A buddy of mine recently purchased some ST coils for his mk5 jetta, they actually ride rather smooth and all the way down they actually sit at a very nice height. We shall see how they hold up long term, but so far so good. I must say tho, if you have the money dont cheap out, it may save you money in the long run. I have stasis coilovers and absolutely love them, they ride amazing and are fully adjustable.

no one said anything about affording prick, I'm asking for opinions from other AZ'rs who actually use the product, D-bag

i have them on my b7 (not by choice, the car came with them) and needless to say im setting money asside for future suspension upgrade. The ride is just to sloppy, i dont feel confident taking aggressive corners.

How about FK? Those can be had for under $1k. ??

Hey shit head......I have real life experience with Vmaxx.. Maybe if you would have searched you would have seen my other threads. If you are looking at "cheap coils" you have to worry about affording.

I love my Vogtlands so far. Been on a year and have zero complaints. I've yet to try em at the track, but I'm sure they'd do just fine. And it rides far better dumped, than stock ever did.
I wanna know who found Vogtlands for 800 bucks. Damn.
OP, a few things I've read about the VMaxx's on S4's is no bueno. I agree, if you can pony up another couple-few hundo, you'll def be better off. Not to mention, I think a few of these kits have even blown out on some of the dubs. Good luck on your choice.

when i purchase coils in the next few weeks ill be going with Vogtland. peoples reviews of H&R are hit or miss, some love them, some say they are bouncy as hell. I don't track the car at all, so my coil purchase is more of a looks item.

I have been around this community a long time, this is my 2nd B6 S4 and 3rd Audi in 4 years..... Every month someone like you comes in, starts a thread and regardless of what everyone tells them or their lack of effort to SEARCH they look for a cheap way to modify their car.....
Mod your car right the first time, it will actually save you money in the long run.

Although I am a proponent of modding "right", our vehicles can now be had for a very low price, making them attractive to a newer crowd. That being said, you really can't blame anyone for asking questions out there regarding parts that are being sold specifically for our vehicles. It may be a small percentage responsibility on the OP for asking without searching, but the parts continue to be available, and maybe they have seen some improvement or sourced from a different mfg, I don't think it hurts to ask . Yes all of us would like PSS9 or KWV3, and every JHM bolt on available but financially this may not be the best route on an 8 year old platform when at the end of the day, its still an 8 year old car !

What's the spring rate? Does it match up with the stock shocks/struts? Those are the two questions you need to answer. Cheap springs could certainly work if the rate is correct. Otherwise you'll have a shitty ride and/or blow the struts.
