The best motor mounts EVER....
So tonight i figure it was time to change out the motor mounts in the car due to some serious in creases in vibration and some odd noises... Well glad i did because they were just awesome. Needless to say this mount made a better bowl than a mount. I decided to go wiht a set of 034 Street Density that i bought at JHMotorsports.
Enjoy

You can't go wrong with the Street Density 034 engine mounts. Have had these in my car for a long time (over 100k miles). Make sure they are installed properly as many have complained of excessive vibrations. The key to the install is to keep it loose and then run the engine to let it position itself into place properly. After than, you can then tighten everything up.

OH GOD! That is insane. I have had the street density mounts in for around 20K and have been super happy with them. Good luck with the install!

I believe the mounts settle a bit once they soften up. I had to re-align everything after about 1,000 mi using the process above. At first they seemed fairly stiff, then my vibrations got worse until I decided to try to loosen everything back up and try again. The snub was touching the bottom of the cage like the motor sunk a good 1/8" or so. After aligning everything again, my idle is smooth as silk.
I think these are a good buy, hope you enjoy them.

I just replaced the snub, motor, and transmission mounts on my car with ones I got from JHM (034 motor/trans, Apikol snub) and there is now 0 vibration at idle. There wasn't almost none before, but now there is 0. Very impressed with the mounts and the shop that installed them for me. Old mounts had almost 150k on them, so they were definitely due for replacement.

How do you like the street density mounts? I have the track one's and it vibrates like crazy from time to time especially in low rpm's. Maybe bc all my mounts are track density and poly.

I love my street density mounts, however I had to change out the trans mount as it got soggy after about a year. I would go with Apikol or Stern v2 for the tranny mount.

What is involved with changing the tranny mounts? I am a tiptronic, so it will be a little different than most of you guys, but do you have to unbolt the motor mounts and then somehow lift up the engine and tranny together, or how do you get those suckers out of there. I am starting to get more vibration at idle than I used to have before, and it is only when it is in gear, so I think that points to a failed tranny mount rather than motor mounts or a snub.

I'm not sure how the tiptronic is set up, but on the 5mt all I did was disconnect the snub from the oil pan and put a jack under the tranny. There's plenty of room to get the bracket and mount out separately if you lift the trans up about 1.5". Takes me 20min tops.
Here's the manual trans instructions, I'm not sure how your's is different. You may have more mounts. http://www.purems.com/products/STB7T...stallation.pdf

Wow those mounts look like the car was in an accident or taken off road?
Not sure how the motor would twist the metal seat off the mount off like that.

Awesome, thanks a lot for the info. I will get under there and take a look at how mine are oriented. I was under the impression you had to undo the motor mounts jack the engine up as well. This looks like a pretty simple procedure. Perhaps I will be getting into that soon.

I would maybe loosen the motor mounts as well so you don't put any strain on them or the engine cradle. Probably not necessary, but ideally you want to loosen all that up anyway to get them seated right, so its not really costing you any time.

Ya, 034 mounts are the kind of mounts you install and then you never worry about them again.
