B8 S4 OE brake options - Daily driver with some track fun!

    Good Morning!

So, it looks like it is time to get my brakes replaced on my B8 S4. As much as I would love to go with a BBK, it just simply is not an option right now. So I am looking for an OE sized set of rotors, with pads, brake lines and fluid. The car is my daily driver, through all weather conditions. I do get it out to the track for some fun a couple times a year as well, so I want to get the best performance I can while maintaining the daily drivability.

Doing my own research, I am leaning towards the Stoptech OE setup, with their street performance pads and a set of Cryo treated rotors. From my understanding, there is no real advantage to going with a slotted rotor, and cross drilling is really just for looks now in a street biased application, and can weaken the rotor if not done correctly. Correct me if I’m wrong! I’m just wondering what my other options would be, and if there is really any significant advantages with any of the setups. (Hawk, Carbotech, Adams rotors and so on!)

    Thanks for any input!

    Steve

I emailed them and they are suggesting the race pattern (double slot). I was thinking of pulling the trigger tomorrow. I was holding out to see if JHM would get their rotors out in time, but it still looks like its a few weeks away and I need something on the car before the 16th!

Just ordered a set of drilled slot slot (ir street). Drill holes are useless but look great, hence the double slot.

    Looking forward to the install.

Looks like u can't do drill with the s4.

Went with double slot and no dimples for performance and low noise.

I'll get some pictures this weekend. I took a couple this morning but haven't had time to wash the car since install and the track day on the weekend. Its very embarasing! A quick description is that the wear area looks pretty much like any other rotor. It might be a bit darker but that could just be me convincing myself. The slots do pop out a bit more though I think since they still have the zinc coating on them.

As for performance, I was very happy! I started a thread in the B8S4 forum with a video... I need a GoPro! Or at least a good mount for my phone! :)

Pictures as promised! I only drove these a short distance after a quick wash and didn't do any hard braking.

Yes it does. I think it is meant to prevent any rusting on the areas that are not in contact with the pad.

hi guys, I need to do the same on mine, but I'm wondering if it's really good and enough (adam's rotors and stoptech pads) or should I go directly with a RS5 kit ( wich is cheaper than BBK)? cause the car do 75% babies to day care, and 2 night weeks lapping and I use it hard!

    Cheers

I ended up ordering the Sport I in gold zinc and I found an awesome deal on akebono euro pads. I mainly wanted a cool look with low noise & dust. I'm hoping ecs gets more metal lines in soon. I was thinking about ordering motul 600 (though I don't know how much to order).
