Looks great! Those are my favorite wheels that audi makes. Maybe 10mm or 12mm spacers up front, is the only thing I'd add.

To those running the H&R "Sport Springs" (~1.3/~1.25" lowering), did you notice a big difference in camber position from stock? I'm interested in these but I don't want to end up with an obnoxious amount of rear camber.

Fresh install so the springs still haven't settled. Will post updates in a couple weeks. Here are the preliminary photos of the vehicle 1 day after install. The pictures don't do it justice. Looks much higher than it really is.

Hey everyone. So I've got a set of H&R Sport Springs (1.3"F, 1.25"R drop) waiting to be installed on my B8 S5. I've had them for a while, still haven't put them on, but, should I replaced the factory shock absorbers? The set on my car are original, with around 97K miles on them. If I did new shock absorbers, it'd likely be the Bilstein "B8" sport ones. Bilstein makes a kit with those shocks and Eibach lowering springs, though, the drop is a little bit less.

Will this pair nicely, or should I just stick with original shocks, or OE replacements?

With that many miles, I'd replace the shocks without question. Especially if you plan on keeping the car. I'd go over all the control arm bushings and make sure they're intact and replace a few other items while you're in there, like the top shock mounts, bump stops, etc...

Absolutely upgrade your struts. With the mileage on your oem struts, and significant drop of the springs (over 1 inch) youíll definitely want to.

When i has my S5 I upgraded to the Bilstein sport struts you mentioned. It pairs well. Youíll notice a firmer ride but the look will be much better. Post pics!

Glad to hear you liked them! I'll definitely post some. For now I'm on stock 19x8.5 with 15mm/20mm spacers. Looking into either 19x10 or 20x10's also.

I did all the control arms already, but, I'll probably replace everything else. Maybe get new hardware too. While I'm at it, maybe I'll grab the 034 strut mount kit.

Yeah, it'd be the right time to do it as it all has to come out anyway in order to swap the springs. When you look up the hardware, just make sure it's S5 specific to your car. There may be different parts for your model/year from what I've listed in other threads.

I just look up part numbers through Audi's own parts website. https://parts.audiusa.com

So then let me ask this:

I was eye-balling a set of H&R Street Performance coil-overs since I started looking at suspension. (~1"-2.5" drop I believe). I think they retail for around $1,250. The Bilstein shock absorbers/struts will run me around $740. My H&R springs were around $250. We'll round up to $1,000. I know I won't exactly get my return selling the springs, even though they're new, but do you guys think it's perhaps worth the price difference to just get the coil-over kit?

I think I'm just going to go with the ST Suspensions kit for the B8 platform. Seems to be the best cost-effective solution for a proper ride.

B8 S5, on ST Suspensions coilovers (Part #90607). Something like a 2.25-2.5" or so drop all around. 15mm front, 20mm rear spacers, stock 19x8.5 wheels. The wheels have a 32mm offset I believe.

Thanks chekraze! I actually am in love with these coil overs. I've got about 500 miles or so on them so far and they've been fantastic. I've got them as low as they can go (in the rear anyways,) and it's a nice even, comfortable, smooth ride. It really helped "plant" the car down some more. It rocks far less between shifts, and rolls less now as well. I've not bottomed out except for in one drive way so far. The road is much more noticeable, without being discomforting. It's making me drive more sporty/faster, more often. And making me really enjoy the sporty-side of my sport Audi. I'd buy them again in a heart-heat in another 50,000-75,000 miles. Easily one of my favorite mods done to the car, especially in conjunction with the 034 rear sway bar and strut mounts for the front.

Thanks. Iím trying to see what are the minimum mods I can do get that flatter, planted feeling that also gives good feedback from the road.....that Porsche feeling without the Porsche $$

So I have spent the last 2 hours reading every posts in this forum. I've come to a conclusion that my 2013 Audi S5 is not performing at its potential in terms of suspension. It is very bouncy over bumps, and not tight around corners. Hell I can practically feel all road imperfections. I bought the Audi in July 2017 and put about 7K miles on her since. My only complaint thus far is the suspension! I do not track my car and I just want a smoother ride. Previous owner stated the car is lowered on H&R springs but does not know if they are OE Sports or Sports. It's possible they might be eibach springs as well. Judging from all the pictures in this thread, I believe that it is the H&R Sports by the color and also because it's very low. I have just a few questions for the suspension experts. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated as I want to get more enjoyment out of my car.

    1. Is it worth it to purchase and install H&R OE Sports springs? I imagine this will raise the car up a bit and allows the shocks to retain somewhat oe absorption.
    2. At 55K miles, do you think perhaps my oem dampers have gone bad? Should I replace them with some type of high performance shocks ie Koni or Bilstein?
    3. When I fully turn my steering wheel in either direction to make a U-turn for example, I feel vibrations in the steering wheel, does this mean my OEM control arms need to be replaced?
    4. This would be my last option as it is the most expensive one. Invest in some coil overs?

    Thank you in advance!

    1. H&R OE Sport or Eibach Pro Kit are both nice riding springs.
    2. Damper life would depend on what lifestyle they have had so far, 55 -60k would be getting towards the end of dampers life. Bilstein yes definitely but Iíd advise against Koni, they are pretty harsh if you want to retain some comfort.
    3. It may be the top mount bearing juddering, worth replacing if youíre doing springs/dampers.
    4. Itís a little bit of a misconception that coilovers improve handling, all suspension where the spring sits over the damper is classed as a coilover (coil spring over damper). A coilover will give you the ability to adjust ride height and in some cases the damper and spring combination is lighter than the factory kit. A more expensive version will give you adjustable damping too but you probably will not require that on a road car. I would stick with a good quality damper and spring combo, Bilstein will sell you a kit for the S5 made up from Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs, you be pushed to find a better balance between ride and handling than that kit.
I accept a Stage II tuned S5 is quicker than an RS5
    Doug convinced me
He's also the reason I don't come here much

I really appreciate you taking the time to help me with this. I will most definitely look into the Bilstein dampers and Eibach spring kit. Seeing how most Indy shops charge around 400-500 to install springs, I canít justify swapping my current H&R sports for H&R OE sports. I just canít imagine much of difference. Unless the Sports have a higher spring rate than the OE sport. Either way I just donít want to spend all that money on labor and be disappointed again.

Tuning in. Iím in the same boat. 57K miles and I feel the suspension isnít what Iíd like or expect.

ST makes a coilover for $750 that Saxeza has installed and he likes them a lot. How much is the kit that has Bilstein/Eibach combo?

As for coilovers, i can seriously talk about it for hours! There are so many high end companies that will transform the way my S5 handles. But I canít see myself investing $4-5k on the likes of Stasis moton or Sachs. Again JamesRS5 thank you for your inputs

Just so you know I ordered a B12 kit in November and backorder date was initially 6-8 weeks. When January came around, it was pushed back until March and last I heard was late May. Iíd contact Summit to make sure the ship date can be confirmed before you purchase.
