replacing valve cover gasket leads to finding new repairs fml

    whats up guys,

so I was replacing my VCG this weekend following the DIY we have and as I was disconnection the "fat hose" from the back of the VCG I ended up pulling the whole thing off the. I knew it wasn't supposed to do that and I found that it looks like a hose from the PCV system has broken. From what I understand bc I'm not too familiar with the PCV system (which I probably should be) it sucks vapor out of that area to be used again in the engine again. I still don't think it is supposed to look like this. Whats' the next step here fellas ?

the last one is a bad shot but I wanted to show that that hose is saturated with oil so I wanted to see if this is normal or what

    Thanks

EDIT: I also found oil in the spark plug section in cylinders 1 & 3. What might have caused this to happen ? the VCG ?

Looks like you cracked your crank case breather hose. lucky for you 034 motorsports sells a replacement.

or you can get it from the dealership, that hardline is held in by a 10mm bolt that also holds in your coolant flange. When you remove the bolt to get the hardline out remember to replace it asap otherwise you will be leaking coolant everywhere.

    Review

    Link to buy.

Hopefully this provides some useful info.
    Good luck!

As a temp fix you can replace the broken piece with some heater hose while parts come in. I did this. I'm actually still rockin' it, prolly should get on that huh?

    Nah.

    You broke number 9.

number 1 is under your intake manifold on your oil cooler/filter housing. It connects the block to the head to the tip.
number 10 goes to your intake manifold and number 6 is a check valve.

Just bring #13 into you local auto parts store and find something like this:

To fit into where the nipple broke off, then find the right size heater hose to fit over it. Hose clamps on either end and maybe one on the hose if it wants to kink and you're done.

It absolutely IS! The OEM plastic one is prone to failure (as you've experienced) and the 034 kit replaces it (and a few other problematic connections like #'s 5, 6, 10, and 13 above). For the $ its a great solution. I also have an OEM metal version of #9 if you want it. Just pay shipping and its yours. Have fun getting that 10mm nut off the coolant flange! Since you have to go through all that trouble definitely use this opportunity to upgrade to less problematic parts.

Sorry you're running into this problem...good luck man.

Nearly the same issue. Finally broke down and decided to get the APR tune while they were having the special. After the tune I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it was running like such crap and then I found this.

It looks to be #2 on the diagram, any late night suggestions on how to fix this?

Had the exact same issue and it was the valve cover gasket. I have a ton of pics that could basically walk you through it so feel free to PM me and I'll send them your way.

Search "brittle breather" and there's a great DIY I followed. I would link but I'm on my iPad and it's a pain. do yourself a favor and remove the intake manifold. It's such a pain to do it with the mani on still.

I did this exact thing last year replacing the vcg. The plastic breather tube was $70+ front the dealer (didnt buy it, used heater hose) and the oil cooler elbow thing was another $70 (had to buy it since there was not alternative and the 034 kit hadn't been released yet. The 04 silicon bits are much better quality then OEM and will last MUCH longer.

Definitely keep an eye out for waldos upcoming write up as he'll probably take some pics.

Here's a crappy comparison of my heater hose contraption vs the 034 silicone one:
