Pledge uses a lot of silicone oil, which makes any paint, chrome, etc its applied to very shiney. Back in my concours days (and I'm talking five decades ago) we used to use it as a QD just before a car was judged, but making sure to remove it soon afterwards.
There are much better products available now ;)

It's a dessert topping....it's a floor wax. Relax, it's both.
I recently caught a Pledge commercial, during which they used it for just about everything, short of shining up the dog. Personally, I don't even use it on furniture.

Funny thing is I did try it using very little on the paint and it does give a good shine.
My Fiance who see's my car clean all the time pointed out that even she thought it looked better after.

I used it on clear bra film only since it left no residue ...I would not use it on the paint surface. There are so many other products designed for that purpose.
