First time poster here buying an A4 in May or so (long time lurker, have a Q7 in the family). Was all set to go ahead and get a 2012 (especially since I most likely will need the car in May) but now the design is starting to grow on me. The new Scuba Blue color makes this even more tempting. Don't know if the 2013 will be worth waiting for...

Either wait for 2013 model or buy a 2012 when the 2013 is available because I'm sure there will be a significant price drop

For me, I could not wait as there were no more Avants after 12MY and I didn't want the Allroad. But, if I were in your place would try to hold out for a 13MY. Do keep in mind that if you do decide to pick up a 12MY, the longer you wait to do so may have a dwindling selection to choose from - though the price may be very good.

Thanks! I hope to become a regular poster here
If thats the case than I might be swayed towards the 2012. I don't really want to go for a prestige model just for the color as I don't want side assist and can live without adaptive headlights. Plus, my parents are getting me the car (I'm a college student) and I would like to keep the costs down as they are already being very generous in getting me an A4. So now it comes down to S-line appearance + possible good deal, as name.goes.here mentions, or the 2013 with some simplified controls and a fresh look. At least I have some time to decide (I don't want to worry about it before my exams and semester are over)
Anyone know when the 2013s are due?
Edit: I just searched and couldn't find anything. All I found was info on parts and that the 2012s can't be ordered anymore but the 2013s haven't started production.

Save your parents the dough and get a 2012 with all the options.
You will regret not sleeping with a Prestige model. They are the best!
Black B8 A4 Avant S-Line Prestige Package, Tiptronic 8 speed, V1, Beltronics, Eurocode HFC, Vogtland Coilovers, H&R Swaybar, APR Stage 2, 91 & 93 ECU Upgrade, VMR RS4 Reps, and more mods to come!

I have a feeling the Audi Connect won't be as fun in Canada as it is for US customers. Having also just bought a 2012, I don't think i'd fork over more money and pay a bigger interest rate for the 2013. I'm really not a fan of the new headlights or taillights.

Agreed. Prefer the prior design much better - more aggressive.

Yeah. The older design seems more iconic and aggressive. For some reason in pictures the new front doesn't seem to follow the lines of the rest of the car, particularly the side of the car. Also, I noticed that the S4 front flows much better. As does the S and regular front of the avant. Only the standard A4 front looks out of place. But I'm sure its better in person.

I'm sure i'll like it more in person too, as it with most cars. But like you said, I don't think the car has the same stance anymore and doesn't particularly stand well against the new 3 series. We haven't seen the S-line version yet so it's still just speculation, but even judging from photos of the new S4 I really have a hard time seeing the aggressiveness.

I normally have to buy the "newest design" of a car if it's available or expected soon. No disrespect to the folks pining for the 2013 refresh, but when I saw the first pictures it sealed the deal for me to buy a CPO 2011. Easy to say if you own one, but I think the 2009-2012 B8's will go down in Audi history as one of the "all time" classic designs. I am happy to miss the refresh years and look forward to what the complete redesign will bring in a few years.

Audi Connect is not available in Canada. Audi uses T-Mobile as the data carrier and their network is not compatible with any of the networks in Canada. So even if you imported a US car into Canada it wouldn't work as the system couldn't connect to any of the carriers here.

There are users that have successfully use their AT&T sim cards with audi connect by entering blanks in the user and password fields, but with 2G, so slower. Some have found that its not worthwhile to pay the monthly subscription fee of $30 so they have resorted to prepaid sim cards. http://localanywhere.truphone.com/buy/ if it can work on networks other than tmobile, it may work in other countries like Canada, but with limited functionality.
Audi should have just allowed tethering via Bluetooth and made life simple and less costly for those already paying for unlimited data plans on their smartphones. I hope there will be a jailbreak!

Just stumbled upon this on YouTube and thought it would be helpful to anyone thinking about a 2013:

Shows what the facelift actually looks like rather than what the press photos show.

It's growing on me, but I find the back is a bit too square. It's as if they tried to fit the new A6 rear on it, and pretty much the same thing that BMW did with the 3 series by putting almost the identical rear end on the new 3 series as they have on the 5. I really do think though that the car won't look anywhere near as nice if it doesn't have the S-Line pack. The stance of the car seems a bit too high for my liking on the stock suspension.

I have had a red A3 Sedan as my background pic for the last year. I had it all planned, factory order exactly the car I wanted, etc. At first, the anticipation was cool, but the waiting game here in the US was getting too long for me to hold out.
