Lighter lost under seat -> It has vanished into thin air, where can it have gone?

My brother in law was in the car earlier and his lighter fell out of his pocket in between the center console and the seat, he tried to get it out, but I told him dont worry we'll get it when we're home as he couldnt quite get to it properly.

On arriving home the damn thing is now gone, its one of those small Bic lighters, and I cant figure where it has gone.

Now I dont care about the lighter, but knowing its somewhere in the car when it shouldnt be is driving me nuts.

I checked under the mats, in the under seat vents (as far as I can see with a flash light), under the rails with both light and fingers, moved the seat all the way up and down, I even got my seven year old to stick his head in there as its smaller, but still nothing.

Where can it have gone?

I haven't gotten a chance to do this yet so not sure how hard to do, but I would unbolt the seat and take it out of the car. Should give you plenty of room to look around and I'm sure it'll be in plain sight when you do that.

Haha, its the black hole, I've lost a few litters too, even stuck the vacuum under there and nothing, my guess is there's an air foot vent for the rear seats and it gets lost in there.

Check the vent under the seat for the rear passengers. Also, move the seat forward/back as far as it goes and look under the rail.

What a coincidence!!! My wife and I went through a coffee joint that I didn't want to visit in the 1st place and then when I try to hand her some change she always puts her hand so fregin far back that it's at an akward angle and sure enough a coin fell in between the seats! I tried to find it in the parking lot and gave up - then she gets me fired up and says, "oh that's going to bother you huh." I figured like you - I'll get it at home. I got a flashlight and moved the seats all the way forward, back, up, down, mats out and it's just gone! DRIVING ME NUTS!!!! I just don't see how it could get into the vents - they face towards the back. So the coin would have to roll back then forward into the vent! UGH!!!

^lol... I have definitely lost some spare change in between the seat and the center console with no clue as to where it ends up; it is quite frustrating!

I figure it's just another way of putting more money into my car

Tomorrow is car wash day, so i will be looking extra closely while vaccuming under the seats to try and solve the riddle of the secret compartment!

I lose stuff down there all the time. Sometimes it;s just buried under the rails and moving the seet up and back seems to work......but when I really can't find it, it usually turns up a couple of months later when I'm cleaning.

Fact #1..i had about $1 in quatters i only got 3 quatters back -__-

Fact #2 a friend of mine was sitting in my passenger seat and she lost $15...i found it the next day

What I started doing, before I get into the car I take all my quarters out and throw them into the middle counsel, at least that way they don't get "lost" in the car but everything else seems to wanish... I'm a smoker but I don't smoke in the car, second thing after loose change I throw the lighter and the cigs into the narrow opening next to the cup holders that way i atleast have my cigs when I come out of the car...
